CMX4.3 with Ecowitt GW2000 Gateway and LDS01 Laser Depth Sensor
The LDS01 is ordered and expected to ship at the end of December. I have received the GW2000 IOT Wi-Fi Hub and want to connect it with CMX. I previously had 2 GW1000 gateway but these are no longer operating, and I've forgotten how to connect them. The GW2000 appears to be both WiFi and Ethernet connection. Which is the preferred connection? I intend to have the LDS01 about 30 feet from the house, brick wall, and about 35 feet inside to the router.
Enjoy,
Paul
Enjoy,
Paul

Re: CMX4.3 with Ecowitt GW2000 Gateway and LDS01 Laser Depth Sensor
Paul I have the GW2000 and found that it works well on both Ethernet and wi-fi (with the usual issue of only 2.4ghz of course). Mine is at the front of a 100 years old house and picks up my WS80 and WH40 very well which are in the garden at the back some 30 feet away (don't have a large garden!). So unless your house has unusual construction it should work fine. I do currently have it on Ethernet as it is only 3 feet from my router!

Re: CMX4.3 with Ecowitt GW2000 Gateway and LDS01 Laser Depth Sensor
My GW1100 is behind a double brick wall receiving all sensors from 20m (to the east, window in between) and 40 m ( the WS80 to the north through the brick wall in open terrain). No issues so far though the soil moisture (20m) sometimes has reception issues.
In summary: I think your 60 feet with a brick wall should give no problems.

Re: CMX4.3 with Ecowitt GW2000 Gateway and LDS01 Laser Depth Sensor
I use a GW2000 as a extra sensors station on my CumulusMX v4
The GW2000 is a very reliable internethub and receives my sensors well
I have a temp/hum sensor in the attic, it receivers through 2 concrete ceilings at about 8 meters up
Back yard, 20 meters is no problem, I never had a connection error, also firmware upgrade is easily done, CumulusMX is able to detect a new firmware version available through the alarm settings it can be displayed in the bottom section of the CumulusMX dashboard
I also have a Davis station and it works fine, except the price of replacement parts and extra sensors is high compared to Ecowitt sensors and parts
I use the wireless connection of the GW2000 to my LAN and this works well
Using the wired LAN gave me some problems when using the Ecowitt protocol and custom server to upload to CumulusMX, it gave a network error
But that maybe a routing issue
I also have an Ecowitt console which I use for uploading sensor data to CumulusMX, and that gives no problems
I run CumulusMX on a Raspberry PI which reads data from my meteobridge Nano, works great

Thanks. I haven't set it up yet but likely will use WiFi. That is how I had the previous GW1000I use the wireless connection of the GW2000 to my LAN and this works well

Some delay...
Enjoy,
Paul
All I can do is wait, and keep doing what I have been doing every dayEcowitt
Dear Customers,
Thank you for your interest and support for the LDS01! To ensure long-term reliability and performance in challenging environments, we have added a heating module during the development process. This feature improves measurement accuracy by addressing the impact of moisture. However, it has also increased power consumption.
Additionally, adjustments to the design and raw materials have led to higher production costs. Despite this, all pre-order customers will receive the updated version of the LDS01 at the original price, without any additional charges.
To implement these enhancements, including an extra battery compartment with every unit, the delivery of LDS01 will be delayed by 60 days to allow for production and testing.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and deeply appreciate your understanding. We are confident that the optimized LDS01 will provide an exceptional user experience. Should you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us.
Thank you for your continued support!

Re: CMX4.3 with Ecowitt GW2000 Gateway and LDS01 Laser Depth Sensor
With a battery package!
I was wondering how laser would function in a blizzard with wet snow filling the housing.
With a heating and a extra battery package this would maybe not be a problem.

I think the heater is for condensation on the lens isn't it? The sensor will normally be pointing downwards, so accumulation on the sensor should not be a problem.

FYI
got an email from Ecowitt Shop/Shopify today that my pre-sale ordered LDS01 sensor has been dispatched and is now in transit ...
let's wait for arrival (usually takes 10 days from China to Austria)

Re: CMX4.3 with Ecowitt GW2000 Gateway and LDS01 Laser Depth Sensor
I am tracking mine...
So far in January we've had 20 days with new snow, and all days with snowpack.
For January, the 20 days with 24-hr snow is a record for me since 2011 and more snow in the forecast. However the total amount of new snow is still lower than many other past years.
Enjoy,
Paul

Re: CMX4.3 with Ecowitt GW2000 Gateway and LDS01 Laser Depth Sensor
It is getting closer...
Now updated on Friday January 31:
I'd better start by connection the GW2000. I think I have it correct as I can access the IP: 10.0.0.185/localNetwork.html and Live Data shows my indoor temp and Humidity (same as my CMX shows). Pressure needs to be calibrated so will have to look into that.
And now going to the Post Office and see if they have it
Enjoy,
Paul
