Select-a-graph time period

Post by ims »

Would it be possible to replace the 'calendar' control in Charts -> 'Select a period' in the top-right corner with just a 'label'?

And, could the period selection be moved above the text located below the chart? On a 2560x1080 resolution, the period selection section is partially hidden (a vertical scrollbar must be used - at this resolution, the scroll bar is out of users view), and users are unsuccessfully trying to adjust the period in the top-right corner because a 'calendar' is used instead of a 'label'.

Thanks.

I'm afraid that is a built-in feature of HighCharts, not something I have coded. Most things can be tweaked, but to be honest I don't think I've ever used that feature! I normal just use the range buttons and the sliders on the overview plot below the main chat.

Personally I don't think the page would "look right" if the period selection buttons were moved above that text

Also you are showing a screen shot of the dashboard. Your users will never see that anyway?

May be - make the calendar in the top-right corner functional and remove the one at the bottom ?

- btw - what does "All" mean in "Recent Charts"? Only 72 hours back?

Different page now - the Recent Select-a-Chart does not have period options - it always displays all the recent data. There are no date/time entries below the chart to remove?

The 72 hours is configurable though - if you had changed to 7 days say, then the All makes more sense.

Back to the Select-a-Period...

They serve different functions. The one at the bottom controls what range of data to fetch for display, the range top-right controls how much of that data to display on the chart at any one time - you can also achieve the same result by using the range buttons and the sliders, or just the sliders.

Regarding "Select-a-period" – I understand it now. When I first tried, I couldn't change anything because I couldn't see the bottom time interval settings (so it would probably be better to place the Start time/End time, and Update directly under/ot top the chart), and the interval at the top and bottom was the same (today). When I changed the range at the bottom, the settings at the top right made sense and worked. However, it’s quite awkward that the Start Date/End Date resets to the current day every time I visit the chart. Or is it possible (or would it be possible) to configure it to show a month back from the current date?

Good idea, I'll set the default range to one month.
