Step by Step Guide for Steel Gauges in MX
Hi,
Many years ago I setup steel gauges on our clubs website. We've recently updated the laptop and moved over to SFTP and as expected the current weather page is u/s.
We've recently upgraded to Cumulus MX and have it running locally but I'd now like to rectify the functionality we used to have. I have the default website template and have checked the wiki but can't quite figure it out.
Would someone mind taking the time to explain the process for MX?
Thanks
Lee

Note you do not need "Create Local" to be ticked if you are only uploading to the web site, just tick "Upload"

Thanks,
In terms of file locations, I have the default website files on the server.
Do I need to copy the steel gauges file to the local CumulusMX web folder like we used to in Cumulus 1?
I'm really unsure of what needs to be placed where.

The only copy you need to do is copying the contents of the web files folder to your server. Then tick "I want to use the default web site" in Internet settings and save. If you have set the server details correct it should start working.

Thanks Mark,
To clarify that's the webfiles in the steel gauges download (called web_server)? Or the default website files for Cumulus MX?

Hi,
All seems to be configured correctly based on the above.
I've noticed if I tick to use the default website and save the settings, when I reopen the web UI that setting is unticked, doesn't appear to save (I do see the settings saved confirmation).
Perhaps that's the reason?
Thanks
Lee

Re: Step by Step Guide for Steel Gauges in MX
The default website tick box does not persist. When you tick it it just enables all the settings that need to be set, which you then save. It would probably be better to use a button rather than a tick box, but that is not a built-in ability in the forms I use.
The usual problem is that the upload folder is set to the wrong path.
The gauges are part of the default website, you do not need any separate upload.

Hi Mark,
I'll check it all again and come back if I'm still having issues.
Thanks

just curious then Mark, and to what "Create Local" does in the way of needing it. is this needed for gauges on the console?

If you want a local copy of the file on your Pc to use for something e.g. Spreadsheet, your own Mysql database etc. Not needed for gauges on dashboard.
