Ecowitt.net API is down

From Cumulus MX version 3 build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since, and has recently released Cumulus MX version 4. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

Ecowitt.net API is down

Post by mcrossley »

I just noticed that the Ecowitt.net API is down - If you run an Ecowitt station and use catch-up I'd suggest you do not restart Cumulus until it is back up again.

Is there an easy way to test this? I just went on and downloaded my data for today just fine from the website!

It was already up at 11h45 and is up still.
It might be a UK issue.

Bearing in mind it is around midnight or so where they are in the world certainly the middle of the night so they could be doing maintenance.

We seem to test this async, but until now I always get an up.
I'll stay on this thread now to see what is happening.

For me it is up now

I just tried https://www.isitdownrightnow.com and it shows up but down on Mark's site. I can access it directly as well.

What does that mean down on Marks site? Does that mean he has a ban on the ecowitt.net site? Testing too much? Should we in that case file a petition to ecowitt haha....

I meant the other checking site Mark quoted earlier in the thread. There are quite a few sites which do these checks and I used a different one. Also as I said directly typing the Ecowitt url into a browser worked when at least one site said it was down!

Down again for me - some "down for everyone" sites show it down, some show it up.

I'm fairly sure it is fronted by Cloudflare, maybe they have regional issues.
