copying data to the wrong file

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

copying data to the wrong file

Post by gw73 »

Hi
Finally got some time to upgrade my software and move my station to a new computer, I am still using Cumulus MX build 3282. I wanted to get everything running on my new computer before upgrading to MX V4.
Every thing seemed to be running fine until I noticed it hadn't updated since yesterday evening I checked the error folder and found data was not going to the correct file. I've attached a copy. I don't know where to change the location in Cumulus. I am currently running it from the C drive and is not inside any other folders. I've attached photo of my file structure. I just need to know where to change the setting so its correct.

Thanks
Gary

I got all the errors to go away except for these 2
2024-11-08 13:15:00 - LocalCopy: Error copying moon image - The process cannot access the file 'C:\cumulusmx\web\moon.png' because it is being used by another process.
2024-11-08 13:15:00 - LocalCopy: Error copy NOAA reports - The process cannot access the file 'C:\Cumulusmx\Reports\NOAAMO1124.txt' because it is being used by another process.

If you haven't opened those files, may try excluding the cumulusmx folder from your anti-virus program?

I am only using windows defender, but I excluded the cumulus folder and it didnt help. I did change 'C:\cumulusmx\web\moon.png to 'C:\cumulusmx\web\MoonBaseImage.png and it stopped the error, the other error stopped when I rebooted the computer.

Are you specifying these as "extra files" then, or using the built-in copy feature?

Extra files
I am still getting the error LocalCopy: Error copy NOAA reports - The process cannot access the file 'C:\Cumulusmx\Reports\NOAAMO1124.txt' because it is being used by another process.
My Noaa setting is to C:\Cumulusmx\Reports\
My local copy destination is C:\cumulusmx\
I think this causing the conflict but im not sure how to correct

Well yes, you are trying to copy the file to itself!
You have it configured to copy
C:\Cumulusmx\Reports\NOAAMO1124.txt
To
C:\Cumulusmx\Reports\NOAAMO1124.txt

Were you doing the same with the moon image? Do you have that working now?

The big question is: What are you trying to achieve?

I'm trying to stop these errors. I simply copied my C:\CumulusMx from my old computer to my new one, that's when I started getting the errors. I just wanted some help to get it fixed correctly. What should my local copy option be set to? Since my NOAA reports are stored in my C:\Cumulusmx\Reports.I had to change my copy destination folder to C:\CumulusMX\web\MoonBaseImage to get that error to stop. When I had to destination folder set to C:\CumulusMX\web\Moon I got errors.

Thanks

The first and most basic question is: Why do you want to copy the files?
Given that you do want to copy them, then the answer to your question is "Where do you want to copy the files to?"

MoonBaseImage.png is a file not a folder. It is required by Cumulus to generate the current moon image.
Please stop copying to that destination, and then restore the MoonBaseImage.png file from the Cumulus distribution zip file.

I have no idea, do they need to be copied? They were checked in the previous installation. I can just uncheck the copy moon image file. I can uncheck the NOAA files local copy as well and the errors will go away. I did restore the MoonBaseImage.png file from the Cumulus distribution zip file. So I guess everything is working.

Thanks

There is no need to copy any files for a standard installation.

I dont know if I need to start a new thread but now I am getting a "Receive state for ISS TxId 1 is: Rescan" Last time I fixed this by setting the the correct date in Station setting, but I have not changed this and it is still correct.

Thanks

That indicates a problem with your station. It has lost reception from the ISS.
