HP2551 Console problem / CumulusMX problem

Post by davepaterson »

yesterday there was an internet outage of around 40+mins. I tried to get the lost data from the console on to an SD Card and although the display screen showed the data progress bar working up to 100% no data went to the card. I have tried clearing the data , doing a reset via the external reset button and also from the factory menu, removing the power all with no avail as still no saved data is sent to any card -----ECOWITT PROBLEM.

BUT NOW -------MX PROBLEM
MX can start, update the logfile and realtime gauges file once but no more than once?
*** Data input appears to have stopped message in the Daig file attached

Running the latest V4 update on Windows 11. Console data is going to WSview OK . Where do I go from here?

This will not work as the SD card in an HP2551 is for local backup only. It does not use the card to update the Ecowitt site or any other weather site configured. So the 40 minutes remains lost as there was no way for the station to pass data via the Internet connection during the outage.

The station does NOT work like an old Fine Offset with a logger like the old WH1080.

The Txt file shows the API correctly downloaded data from Ecowitt (admittedly the data for the outage was missing as Ecowitt never received it because the Internet was down).

Then after two minutes MX stopped receiving data from your weather station. That is not a CMX problem that is a console problem. I see you say you did a factory reset on the console, did you forget to re-input the custom server settings to the console?

Thanks David
Yip I know that the card can only be used to get stored HP2552 data.

why if everything is OK with WSview and MX talks to the Console and then
gets the connection lost? I don't know what to look for in the Diag file or settings that would stop MX talking not talking?

Just checked WSview for historic data and every 5 mins from 17:05 ( start of diag file )till 20:00 is in the data which came via the internet, so the HP2552 is staying connected.?????

The console is connected to Ecowitt servers. MX connects to Ecowitt servers. But MX doesn't connect to your console. When you did the console factory reset, did you replace the config needed for MX and the console to connect to each other?

At MX start up it does connect to the Console, but not sure what should be reconfigured

Details are in the Station Settings see below.

Image

On your HP2551/2 press the settings button and then get the Setup box next to Weather Server highlight it and press the + button on the extreme left.

The Weather Server page will open. Down the bottom you will Customised with a setup box. Highlight that and press the + button again.

Enter the above values in that screen and then use the back arrow (like a U turn arrow) to exit.

Your computer should now be able to pick up the readings from the console.

Setup a per David's post but still the same.
Did a file change check and recorded when realtimegauges.txt was written.
I started CMX and the first file change was at 12:39:16 and continued every 2 sec. up to14:41:00. The logfile updated at 12:40 ,
but nothing changed after 12:41. Why can CMX read the data ,write one logfile at the first full min. the stop at the next ???? Diag attached

I think you need to double check those settings - or post a screen shot of them. Cumulus MX is still not receiving any data from your station.

In your configuration, CMX is passive, it just sits there waiting for the station to send it some data.

As per Davids post the "path" entry should be "/station/ecowitt" not "/data/report"

Silly question but are you sure that the IP Address of the HP2552 is correct? The IP address being used should be in ServiceConsole.txt file e.g.
024-10-22 10:20:35.993 Working Dir: D:\Program Files\CumulusMX Ecowitt\
2024-10-22 10:21:26.503 http://192.168.0.94:8998/
2024-10-22 10:21:26.503 Open the admin interface by entering one of the above URLs into a web browser.
As Mark says the data you enter is the IP address of the CumulusMX computer not the IP address of the console as MX just sits there listening on the port waiting for data to be transmitted by the console.

Console IP = 192.168.0.15
CMX computer = 192.168.0.21
