yes i'm busy trying, but no succes.

tried the solution, but same result.
plus the ftp never comes to upload the meteocamrealtime.txt
my ftp server crashes because of errors and 'too many connections'.

that's why it's taking so long/ :-)

for me https:\/\/osswww.ecowitt.net\/images\/webcam\/v0\/2025_01_22\/231118\/7fca73a4a022b959ebe7ea799fa8ee98.jpg

is not a valid url, try and copy and see for yourself.
the \/\/ translates in a browser too //, there should be only one /

probably that's why my server crashes???

so to be clear: Davis Vantage Pro2 WLL as main station with in and out airlink, and soil and leaf, Ecowitt GW1000 with only a lightning sensor, and one ecowitt HP10 cam,

what should be my settings for the ecowitt?

many thanks

Hi Alex,

Could you post (by PM if you wish):
  1. Cumulus.ini
  2. cumulusutils.ini
  3. Your CMX MXdiags latest logfile (Debug on, restart and let it run for 20 minutes)
  4. Your logfile for the CUtils meteocam run.
Then you ask:

You must have set the ExtraSensor Ecowitt device (HTTP or Cloud) and in the advanced settings you activate the lightning sensor and the camera. Disable the rest and save the settings.

1) You need to set the MeteoCam parameters:

Code: Select all

MeteoCamMenu=true
CamType=EcowittHP10
The others have no effect
2) Run CUtils with the commandline option meteocam (or website)
3) Set the extra webfile for meteocamrealtime.txt: process and upload

That should be it. You need to stop looking at the URL in the logfile, that is irrelevant to you.

Important NOTE: the https://www.sint-katelijne-waver-meteo. ... altime.txt still contains the 19/01/25 URL which means no fresh upload did take place. Stop looking at the URL wherever, but check the upload process. The extra webfiles procedure fetches the URL (process) from CMX - which asks it in turn to Ecowitt - and puts it in the meteocamrealtime.txt which is then uploaded by the same ectra webfiles process.

Your realtime.txt does upload OK as well so why would this one not?

If all goes well, the https://www.sint-katelijne-waver-meteo. ... altime.txt on the server contains the most recent image URL by the HP10. That all goes automatic, there is nothing you need to do or check. If all goes well, I can read that file from here so I can check if something goes wrong. And currently your extra webfiles processing/uploading does not go well.

And btw: I see your station is offline now for already 75 minutes. That does not help in checking: CMX needs to run to send the realtime files including the meteocam file.

Hi Alex,

I am processing your files. So far nothing found but could you post the C:\CumulusMX\utils\meteocamrealtime.txt i.e. the by CUtils generated file for the webcam system.

Thanks.

Thanks Alex, I think Mark needs to look at this one, I do not understand what is going wrong - apparently - in CMX. It does not fill the webtag in meteocamrealtime.txt which therefore is not uploaded because it is empty.

@Mark:
The URL of the image is communicated via the file meteocamrealtime.txt which contains the webtag <#EcowittCameraUrl>.
You may read the thread if you wish but the point so far comes down to the webtag apparently not being replaced during the Extra Webfiles process phase and therefore - being empty - not being uploaded.

meteocamrealtime.txt should be uploaded at interval frequency so I can understand it says here no new data but the moment the image changes it says the same. Something goes wrong in the processing and uploading of <#EcowittCameraUrl>.

Any suggestion?

The fragment of the logfiles says this:

Code: Select all

I'll try and have a look later - it may be that the lack of any sensors other than a web cam on the extra station is halting it processing correctly. This is the first time I have seen such a configuration.

Thinking about it, how can a station not have any sensors - all gateways, consoles etc have internal t/h/press sensors.

@Mark: the GW1000 has one ordinary sensor, the lightning detector which seems to work (Alex has not indicated otherwise) so it is not completely without sensors. The lightning detector is shown on the site : https://www.sint-katelijne-waver-meteo. ... raSoilTemp

The main is a Davis WLL and the Ecowitt is for the Lightning and the Camera. The other Extra Sensors are done through the Davis!

But the Ecowitt current data response has nothing in it except "camera"? Is MX configured with the correct station details?

I think it is yes.
Does the Cumulus.ini help? Here it is anyway (sensitive data encrypted)

Hi both,

yes it's active (gw1000 with internal humidity and internal temp and pressure), in the gateway and on cmx and ecowitt.

you can see in the logs I send you that CMX has discovered the lightning senor.
right at the beginning of the logs.

Because the gateway has a mac and the camera has a mac too, I only can enter one mac in Ecowitt cloud settings.
Or I set the mac for the lighyning, and I get lightning data, or I set the mac for the camera and I get the photo data.
In either way: CMX discovers them both when starting up.

thanks

I may have missed something further up the thread, but why are you using the Ecowitt Cloud station type for extra sensors? That was really designed for pulling data from stations to which you do not have local access.

But, anyway...

You should use the MAC of the station for the main station configuration, not the camera MAC. That is why no sensors other than the camera is seen in the current data.

Once you do that, then run MX with debug and data logging enabled, and try to read the Camera URL via a browser:

Code: Select all

http://<cmx_ip>:8998/api/tags/process.json?EcowittCameraUrl
Make a note of the time you do that - makes finding in the log easier! - then post the log file again please.

Hi got a partial succes.

when selecting only the ecowiit net cloud station, and enable the no sensor check I got the cam url succesfully
with mac of the gw1000 and also the lighning data
result : EcowittCameraUrl "https://osswww.ecowitt.net/images/webca ... ecd99f.jpg"

when then selecting davis + ecowitt net only lightning data gets through again with no sensor chek enabled
result : EcowittCameraUrl ""

in attachment the logs :

its not a lenghtly log, you will see the result immediately :-)

@Hans i let it run to generate some pictures, but no meteocam.jpg is made , but that's for now not that important

thank you!
