VP2 Temperature offset

Post by Mapantz »

I installed a different temperature sensor from another manufacturer today, at the same height as the Davis one.

I noticed a trend that the Davis is around 0.6°C higher.

I suddenly remembered, if you use the latest Davis temperature/humidity sensor with a sim board earlier than 2016, a -0.5°C offset needs to be applied at the console.

Now, when I used to use the old VP2 console and datalogger, I did add that offset to the console. However, I have been using the WLL since then, and I don't remember adding any offset, and I haven't added one to the new console either.

I'm guessing that I should've done? It would make sense..

I just need confirmation that the offset is still needed?!

Yes, it's still needed because it is the SIM board that is reading incorrectly and then sending the data to whatever is listening.

I have done it now
I had an inkling for ages that it didn't seem right. I think I know why I didn't add it.
I've had 2 WLL's. I definitely did the offset on the first one, but I sent it back in exchange for a new one, as I had issues with it. I obviously forgot to add the offset when I got the new one. :groan:

Thanks Mark.
