MySQL error

From Cumulus MX version 3 build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since, and has recently released Cumulus MX version 4. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

MySQL error

Post by Defenderdogs »

I am seeing the following error every 5 minutes:

DoLogFile: Error encountered during MySQL operation = Access denied for user ''@'<ip address>' (using password: NO)
2024-10-14 15:50:00.320 DoLogFile: Error - Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

There's nothing relating to that IP in the Cumulus.ini file. Did I set something in v3 that I forgot about and is now causing this in v4?

Has your IP address changed? If it has you will have to give remote access via the Cpanel to your new IP address, assuming that the MySQL database in on your hosting service.

No, the IP is actually the CMX host (a Pi3) and I reserve it on my router. Can't for the life of me think why I would have wanted to do anything MySQL related on this device.....

I found it. It seems I had "pi" and hostname "<the ip address> setup as a user in my MySQL database. I upgraded the OS on my Pi3 to the latest version but the "pi" user is no longer setup automatically and I decided not to use it. I removed the user, the error no longer appears and rows are again being added in my MySQL database.

Now I need to work out how to get it to 'catch up' on several days of missing data in the database.....

This might be a little late here, but this should get you started on updating the missing data.

Sorry there was an extra 'l' in the link.

I run this once a month to add records that may be missing from anomalies. The way the script file is structured it ignores any duplicate records trying to be inserted by using INSERT IGNORE.
