cumulus.ini settings lost

Post by dane »

Just installed latest beta (904) and seem to have lost my settings for 'graphhours' (I had 48 hours) and 'AvgBearingMinutes' (I had 60 minutes): they have gone back to the default values: 24 and 30 respectively.

You'll lose a non-standard setting for graph hours if you use the display settings screen, because the code only knows about 12 and 24; setting it to 48 via the ini-file is just a hack that happens to work until you use the display settings screen. Did you use the display settings screen?
and 'AvgBearingMinutes' (I had 60 minutes):
I don't understand how that has happened because Cumulus doesn't write the avgbearingminutes value back to the ini-file (because it's an ini-file only setting).
they have gone back to the default values: 24 and 30 respectively.
The default for avgbearingminutes is 10, it's not possible for Cumulus to set it to 30 (quite apart from the fact that it doesn't write it to the ini-file anyway) unless it read that value from the ini file. Do you mean some other setting?

I've just tried setting AvgBearingMinutes=60 and GraphHours=48 and running build 904, and both settings are retained.

My faults
I went to the Display settings screen to see the new field, hit OK, and that reset my graphhours. Was not aware that would happen, but of course it would!
AvgBearingMinutes: I must have set it to 30 at some time - and it is still 30. :bash:

I ought to change it so that 48 is one of the standard options; I've seen a few people using that. It clearly works OK, it would just need the display settings screen to allow it.

I've just spotted a bug with the "Show current conditions" setting. The check box isn't set to the current value when the display settings screen is opened. I'll fix that, and while I'm doing it I'll add the 48-hour graph option, it's easy enough to do.
