Cumulus Support

My new WS90 registered 0.01 inches this morning, but there was no rain in the past 24 hours. I believe that the sensor measured condensation from the high level of dew that occurred overnight.

Is there anything I can do to have tiny amounts of water ignored?

There may be a setting you can use - but why would you want to do that? Dew is valid precipitation as measured by your rain gauge. Precipitation is the result of water vapour that is condensed out of the atmosphere. Just because it condenses directly on your rain gauge rather than via a cloud doesn't make it any less valid as precipitation.

That is an interesting way of looking at the situation.

However, every screen refers to the number as being "Rainfall". I just don't think you can classify condensation as "Rainfall".

But the rain gauge could also measure melted snow or hail as well - which isn't rainfall either. They are all different types of precipitation though. Perhaps the screens should state precipitation rather than rainfall.

I work in the meteorological world and all forms of precipitation are measured, and contribute to statistics.

I agree, dew should be counted as precipitation. That we commonly call this rainfall is another matter.
