moon image fails to update
Hi Hans
I have been trying to puzzle this one out over the past few days. As usual I use the CMX moon image on my web site but it has stopped updating.
By way of background, I have changed my web host recently but I do not think that should cause a problem.
When I first noticed the problem I could see that the moon pic showed about 25% but should have been more like 50%.
When I look at the image on the web host in images/moon.png and that shows the correct current position at about 50% rather than the on site value of 25%. Yes I have cleared the caches with F5
Next I tried using the standard CUtils moon image which seemed to work just fine with the correct amount of obscuration and this I used for a day or so.
Currently I am on the latest beta's for CMX and CUtils but I have reverted to the last full iterations to see if that would sort the problem but no change either.
Now I am at a loss to sort the issue, everything else on the website seems to work OK.
What have I missed??

Re: moon image fails to update
Well it is loading the image from https://lalouettegoreyweather.uk/images/moon.png so I presume that the default upload is putting the image there i.e. upload folder = images/moon.png and there is a tick in Generate Moon image?

Re: moon image fails to update
That is a yes on both counts for CMX and also in the CUtils.ini file.

Re: moon image fails to update
Hi Andy,
To me your site looks OK, including the moon. I checked the code and the moon should update every hour (if you leave the site open) so it all depends on CMX uploading the image to the correct location. You specify the location in the cumulusutils.ini file.
I assume you checked all that and that the location is OK and that is where CMX uploads?
If you start the website anew, you get the correct image I assume or is it already in error then?
Did you run the website command without thrifty when using the new beta?
Could you post the definition of the moon image upload in CMX and the path in the utils ini file?
I will start using the CMX moon image myself and check it. It may take some time, I'll be leaving over the weekend and be back Monday.
[EDIT:]I see the answers on Davids questions.

Re: moon image fails to update
I can add that the moon image only updates when refreshing the index.html
The rise and set times are updated hourly, the sun disc is updated hourly for the minute hand, but the discs themselves are not updated. I did assume users would not leave the site open for more than a day. So a new disc or image is only loaded when the website is started. Could that be the cause of you experience?

Re: moon image fails to update
Hi Hans
I just checked the site on another pc and as you say it looks just fine, the moon image is at 50% as expected.
So my issue is on my main pc and not CUtils, something I need to address
Edit I just checked on a different browser ,Edge, on my main pc and all looks just fine. A problem with Opera browser!

Re: moon image fails to update
Ok. Let me know how you get on and if I can do anything.
Be aware the moon disc does not update automatically, it needs a website refresh in the browser.

Hi Hans
All sorted now, I properly cleared the Opera browser cache and it all looks good to me.
Thanks for your help as ever.

Re: moon image fails to update
@Andy: I must say that I did find a glitch, similar to the Reports issue I reported recently: the location to upload the moon image to must - in my case - be relative to the webroot. So:
is required i.s.o. This change only recently took place at my provider but it may be a general thing caused by PHP or by Apache. My provider explained it being a relative path but they could not indicate when a change had taken place.
It is provider dependent I guess.
Code: Select all
./images/moon.pngCode: Select all
/httpdocs/images/moon/pngIt is provider dependent I guess.
