Anyone having problems with HostPresto?

My website wasn't updated for a couple of hours last evening but finally came back at 23:30. All looked okay this morning but then stopped being updated at 09:15 local. Despite raising a ticket the only reply I've had was asking me to go through the steps to recreate the problem. Hopeless when the topic title was "Website not being updated".
Looking at my netbook and Cumulus there are no errors indicating a problem with FTP uploads. The control panel on HP confirms as much.
They're usually pretty reliable but I don't understand why my site hasn't been updated for 6 hours.

After raising a second ticket as Urgent and telling them FTP uploads were failing they’ve resolved the problem. But I’m still waiting for their answer.
Systems should emit warnings when processes fail. I get a bit jittery as I only have a rudimentary knowledge of the process so troubleshooting is difficult.

Hi Ray,

Did your red Error button flash?
I had checked "IsItDown" for your URL and it said it was online, but clearly it hadn't updated since about 9:00 am. Now OK.
Enjoy,
Paul

Hi Paul,
That was the first thing I checked. No red light. So the upload was processed but not actioned at their end.
It happened last evening for a couple of hours then everything was okay until this morning. Still waiting to hear back from them. No data has been lost fortunately.

Hi
I am sorry to hear you are having problems with HostPresto, my experience with them was that they became increasingly error prone with complete stops without being able to sort themselves out. I changed provider to tsoHost in August 2023 and have had no issues with them as a service provider.
I should mention that tsoHost are in the process of migrating the service to 123 Reg which I blieve is another provider under the GoDaddy stable. Hopefully the new provider will be as good as tsoHost.

I know nothing about Hostpresto but I have concerns about 123reg which in my experience is lousy and godaddy gets poor reports and reviews. I have used Krystal now for a long time with zero bad experiences but no idea how they compare for costs.

Gents, thanks for your feedback. I imagine all providers have glitches from time to time. HP have apologised for the problem and have asked me for the FTP login details which I’ve provided.
They did say they had a lot of tickets raised recently so I’ve taken that into account. All’s well for now and will hopefully remain the case.

Just heard back from HP. The problem was nothing more serious than lack of disk space. Now rectified.
Someone rushed out to the nearest PC World and bought a 6 pack of 10Tb disks!

Frankly that is inexcusable for a so called professional hosting company. In my opinion they deserve to lose custom for that!

Really? Bit harsh. They could have had a new influx of customers. It's not a problem for me. Stopping FTP uploads would be a problem.

I don't think so, I know just what can be done with proper resource management and planning. There are some things which are more difficult to manage like hardware failure or power issues but not disk space!

It did cause me to raise an eyebrow. You'd imagine there are all sorts of checks to ensure disk space is adequate. They could have told me anything of course. If it was a genuine lack of space at least they were honest about it unlike the usual "technical issue".

What if the space problem was caused by hardware failure?

We're speculating here.
To be honest they should be completely clear in my view and if they said we had a sudden disk hardware failure that would be both honest and acceptable. Although with 'SMART' monitoring of disks these days a pending failure might be noticeable. Just saying ran out of disk space if true backs up my original comment.
