Ecowitt IOT API

Post by Nossie »

I see the ecowitt API is finally documented .... is IOT out of scope for cuimulus? :D

would be nice to use CMX data to turn on and off my watering system instead of relying on ecowitts silly rules.
Ian.

e,g

If water flow rate => 4 l/min turn the damn thing off you have a leak (my pressurized system wont push more than 2 l/min so if the flow rate exceeds that there is something wrong somewhere

but even though flow rate is measured I'm pretty sure there is not an option to setup such a rule.

Sorry Ian, no plans to add that in the near future.

That sort of stuff is best done in things like Home Assistant where it already has templates for all the rules you could want, and takes input data from virtually anywhere. I bet there will be a HA plugin for the Ecowitt IOT API released very soon.

yeah I know :) I just think it would be good to have everything in one place and technically watering the garden atleast is weather related :D

there would still be access to everything else via MQTT anyway.

why do you want to introduce two more layers by using CMX for your HomeAutomation.
Two more layers - two more potential points of error.
You can programm the Ecowitt IoT devices directly.
From CMX you might also have a potential delay of one minute ...

and what exactly is silly with manual, scheduled and smart plans for the Ecowitt IoT devices ?
Can you give one (or more) real-world example(s) ?
What do you want to do ?
What does not work or is not covered ?
