ERROR IN MONTHLY RAIN FALL
Dear All,
My Cumulus MX is linked to the the HUB Ecowitt GW2000. In this month of August there have been two days with rain, august 2nd with 23,9 mm and today august 7th with 4,6mm total 28,5 mm and I really don't understand why Cumulus MX has also detectd 23,9mm on august 3rd and august 5th so with a wrong total amount of 76,3 mm. What do you need to understand where is the problem? How can I edit the total month amount to change it from 76,3 mm to 28,5 mm?
In attachment the screenshots of the Cumulus MX and of the HUB Ecowitt GW2000
Thanks
Paolo

Re: ERROR IN MONTHLY RAIN FALL
Usually when rainfall is incorrect it is because Cumulus has not performed a daily rollover correctly, and the most common causes of that I have seen are either allowing the computer to sleep when the rollover happens, or a scheduled reboot at rollover time.
Please post your MXdiags files for us to look at.

Re: ERROR IN MONTHLY RAIN FALL
OK, starting on the 2nd - everything is OK, rollover happens and 23.9 mm of rain is recorded.
The day dated the 3rd starts and the rain counter at the start of day is set to 784.9 mm.
The log ends abruptly at 11:11 with no graceful shutdown.
The next log starts at 13:00, with a Cumulus MX start-up.
It detects the last data was received at 11:11 and reads the rain counter from today.ini as 784.9 mm - All good so far.
That log ends abruptly at 16:40 with no graceful shutdown.
At that point the rain counter is still 784.9, so no rain registered.
The next log starts at 17:20, with a Cumulus MX start-up.
This time it cannot read the today.ini file. So has no record of when the last data was read, nor what the last rain counter value was.
However, the today.ini file does contain a last data update time of 03/08/24 17:20 - the current time - I need to look at that...
It attempts to recover by reading the last monthly log entry.
The last monthly log entry it finds is 01/08/24 @ 00:00 !?
So, it uses that and sets the rain counter from that time which had the value 761.0 mm
Because the last update time is the current time, no historic catch-up is performed which would catch-up the rain counter.
I haven't looked any further through the logs, for the rain error on 5th.
So, a couple of things:
1. How are you shutting Cumulus MX down? It appears to just be terminated, rather than being closed gracefully.
2. What happened between 16:40 and 17:20 on 03/08/24?
The monthly log file appears to have reverted to an old version, and the today.ini file was corrupt.
3. A bonus one. You have a real-time file copy that is failing because the destination path does not exist:
Could not find a part of the path '/home/polin79/CumulusMX/Archivio/realtime.txt'

Re: ERROR IN MONTHLY RAIN FALL
Hi Mark,
Thanks for checking.
Here my replies:
1.The CumlulusMX is installed on a Linux PC: during that days, I was testing another software and there were some sudden system shutdowns which I think are che cause of the problem
2. Same as above
3. I have changed the PC and passed to version 4 of CMX and the path '/home/polin79/CumulusMX/Archivio/' was the previous one, now is "'/home/polin/CumulusMX4/CumulusMX/', but now I don't find the folder 'Archivio'
How can I change the path?
Thanks
Paolo

Re: ERROR IN MONTHLY RAIN FALL
If you suggest which file of the backup of july 24th to restore, I think CMX could retrieve historical data from Ecowitt station right? And with backup restore the quantity of rain could be OK or not?

Re: ERROR IN MONTHLY RAIN FALL
Sorry for the late reply. The answer to the question about which files to restore is: Everything in the backed up data folder.
Good to hear it is working now .
