cumulus on www site ?

Can I use Cumulus with dslextreme personal webspace? I am totally clueless if I can do this and if so how. I have been able to get cumulus running on my computer, and I was able to get it to output data to PWS and WUnderground. Now I would like to put it on some personal webspace.
I have no idea what to enter for:
Host Name:
FTP Port: (leave it at 21?)
Directory:
I used to have a www site running using VWS, but I have no recollection on the settings I used or how I got it working! The personal www space would be at:
http://members.dslextreme.com/users/jgarden/ or
http://members.dslextreme.com/users/jgarden/WX/
TIAfor your help.

Leave the port at 21, but for the rest, it's impossible to say. They should have given you instructions on how to ftp files to your web space - assuming they allow ftp access at all; it's possible that they don't.
For directory you might just need "WX", or you might need something on the front of that. How did you create that directory? Using ftp, or some sort of control panel?

I created the WX directory using their control panel.

Ah, right. Did they not give you any instructions about ftp? I had a quick look in their support section but drew a blank. Maybe an email to tech support?

I had a search on the internet but can find very very details on their setup instructions for FTP.
Apparently if you login to
https://dslxtreme.com/Support/Webspace/ you can get more details
sorry I can't be of more help
Maybe email them and ask them to confirm your FTP server name and username

Steve and Daj, thanks for your help and the additional effort of actually googling and going to the dslextreme www site. I have tried their www site to no avail and as you indicate a google search wasnt very helpful either.
I will see if I can get in touch with tech support....haven't had much success there either, unfortunately.
I am thinking of just paying the piper and getting a domain name and a hosted www space.
I will post back if I discover anything about using the dslextreme personal www space.

I will happily let you trial my web hosting? There are two options, more on my site -- details in my signature below here.
I only charge a very small amount to cover costs -- I'm not here to make money on it, just a fun hobby

Daj, thank you for your kind offer. I have a friend here in the USA that has offered me some www space and am considering his offer.
Do you see any drawbacks that you are not located in the USA if I were to set up a www site on your server?
Thank you

here you go:
http://members.dslextreme.com/~jgarden/
from a command window (I haven't used windows 7 but under XP go start - run, then enter the command "cmd") enter "cd <the location where you installed cumulus>\cumulus\webfiles" (if you installed them in the default location enter "cd c:\program files\cumulus\webfiles" but I think I read somewhere that its different for windows 7)
then enter "ftp ftp.users.dslextreme.com" then log in with your userid (probably jgarden I assume) & password and you should be logged into your home page.
first enter "bin" to ensure all files transfered are done in binary, then enter "mkdir weather" to create the weather directory and you can then change into that directory by "cd weather" and "put" all the cumulus files - "put weatherstyle.css" "put wz_jsgraphics.js" "put CumulusRealtime.swf"
then make the sub directories again with the mkdir command - "mkdir dbimages" & "mkdir images" from memory
"cd dbimages" on you ftp server then "lcd dbimages" to change into that directory on your pc put any required files as per the instructions. To do this faster enter "prompt" then "mput *"
then "cd ../images" and "lcd ../images" and "put picture.jpg"
or you could use one of those fandangled giu ftp interfaces to do this for you, but I can't help there.
In cumulus just put "ftp.users.dslextreme.com" in hostname field
"weather" in directory field
port 21
"jgarden" in username
your password in password field
Your isp looks similar to mine so hopefully that should do it. (sorry if I'm telling you how to suck eggs if you know all this or let me know if this is unclear or you have any probs

)

Yes, that's the same as
http://members.dslextreme.com/users/jgarden/ mentioned previously, but I don't understand how it helps?

No worries
However that said, it would be much easier to take up Daj's offer as it gives you the added bonus of being able to make your cumulus website publicly available for all to view though wundergound etc without having to have your name in the URL. This would stop people from working out your email address and spamming you.
In hindsite I probably would have done that for the trivial price he's charging.
