Correcting Rainfall

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

Correcting Rainfall

Post by randy52644 »

I really have spent time searching previous posts regarding this topic and can't get my head wrapped around the correct answer.

Running MX 3.25.2 b3245 with a Vantage Pro2 on Windows. Recently the rain gauge decided to go crazy and got 71 inches during a t-storm. No corrosion on the connector so I suspect the reed switch?

Anyway, I would like to correct the database to remove that 71 inch entry.

Hi,
You can edit the dayfile entry from your local Dashboard > Data logs > Dayfile - go and click on the date line you want to edit, click on the Edit tab upper left, make the change, and Save.

For the monthly log files it is more difficult because it has ongoping daily amounts but you can also edit that, from Data logs > Monthly logs - select the Start and End date, go and click on the time line you want to edit, click on the Edit tab upper left, make the change, and save.

For the Records you can use the local Dashboard > Edit tab and select what you want to edit.

If you want to edit the cumulusmx.db file, sorry I have no suggestion.

Enjoy,
Paul

...for db file use https://sqlitebrowser.org/ to open and edit but be careful, so I suggest take a backup copy first.

Thanks everyone!

Another question regarding the Vantage Pro2. I assume the console pushes real-time data out to Cumulus where it is stored. Is there any historical data within the console that Cumulus uses? For example, the console is displaying rainfall for the year at 104 inches. Can I delete that console data?

Back in 2010 I wanted to change some data in the console. I can’t remember the specifics but it’s very complicated involving using hex to write data to a specific address. Although I managed it ultimately does it really matter when the console is just used as a data gathering box? In any case annual rainfall is reset on Jan 1 each year.

I can’t imagine anyone using a VP2 not using weather software to analyse the data. I can’t remember the last time I read annual data on the console.
Cheers,
Ray, Cheshire.
