Updated to 4025 ... now fails to start (Resolved!)

From Cumulus MX version 3 build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since, and has recently released Cumulus MX version 4. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

Updated to 4025 ... now fails to start (Resolved!)

Post by Timster »

Hi All,
Strange behaviour when I updated from build 3283 which has been running with issue for quite a while. (Ecowitt GW1100 station)

Firstly I tried a few weeks ago with build 4024, and now today with 4025. Both experience the same issue.

I extracted all the new build into the CumulusMX folder, and tried to run CumulusMX.exe (Windows 11 system).... as usual had to tell Windows that it was OK to run the app (Run Anyway). The Cumulus window pops onto the screen momentarily only, then disappears. It is not hideen, nor running in the background as far as I can tell. Had the same symptons on 4024 and now 4025. Reverting to 3283 everything works again.

I'm assuming it's something in Windows 11 being difficult, but am not able to solve for it. Any ideas on what to do next??

Cheers
Tim

Hi,
First, did you follow the instructions for update to version 4, i.e. install or make sure you have Net 8 installed, and did the version 3 to version 4 data file migration? If you followed the instructions you will have a \CumulusMX\datav3 folder as a backup if it is needed.

Also check the MXdiags log file to see if there is anything in it that may help, or zip it and attach to a reply post.

Enjoy,
Paul

Yep you need to read the instructions at viewtopic.php?t=22051. This is a whole new version so some changes need to be made to data files before you start it up - and you should really do a clean install as it's a major version change

Reporting success..... Def a case of RTFM, and a face palm at my end.

Thank you both!
