Upload historical data from text file
I have recently (yesterday) converted my website weather www.lmacrc.com from a Wordpress plugin (abandoned) to Cumulus MX. I have all the daily data from 2021 in text files. Each file covers the data collected over the 24 hour period, every minute. Is it possible to import data into Cumulus MX and if so, what is the required file structure to do so?
TIA
George

Re: Upload historical data from text file
The Wiki (see link in pink panel above) gives information on required formats. Essentially there are monthly files that contain a month's data at whatever interval you recorded at - one set of recordings per line, and a Dayfile that contains summary data (max, min, rainfall etc.) for each day - one day per line.

If you can create the monthly log files, then the Create missing utility will construct the day file you.

Yes, that's the one. As Mark said, just do the monthly files and CreateMissing will generate the Dayfile for you.RogerH wrote: ↑Wed 19 Jun 2024 3:26 pm Is this the relevant page?

Great and thank you for the replies.
Excuse my ignorance, but where do I find the "CreateMissing" utility? It is not on my Cumulus desktop.

Hi,
Current version CreateMissing is included in the latest CumulusMX zip download. It is in the main CumulusMX folder, and run it from there.
Enjoy,
Paul

Re: Upload historical data from text file
I see that the wiki here https://www.cumuluswiki.org/a/Standard_ ... n_the_file states the log file format as -
These files are automatically created with names in the form <Month><Year>log.txt.
In UK English locale, the file for August 2009 is called Aug09log.txt.
Whereas, MX is creating a file format as [YYYY][mm]log.txt?

Correct. The wiki has not been maintained in this respect.GWCTas wrote: ↑Thu 20 Jun 2024 4:54 am I see that the wiki here https://www.cumuluswiki.org/a/Standard_ ... n_the_file states the log file format as -

You need to use the current format [YYYY][mm]log.txt

And they now use a fixed format of dot decimals, and comma field separators

Re: Upload historical data from text file
Thanks Mark, I noticed that in the text file.
By the way, I love the layout of your weather pages. Is that format available for others to use or is there a repository where anyone can view options of different web interfaces?
I also see that you use a RPi. At our Launceston Aero Club, I have installed a RPi Zero but it won't accept .NET 8 nor under Mono. I am currently running Cumulus for the club from my home, which is not ideal long term. The newer Rpi Zero 2W has a better processor and will run .NET 8. What Rpi do you use?
