Importer for WeatherCat Data

From Cumulus MX version 3 build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since, and has recently released Cumulus MX version 4. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

Importer for WeatherCat Data

Post by wurzelmac »

Is there a chance to see an import-tool from WeatherCat data (https://trixology.com/) in some future?

That is an example of a data-export from WeatherCat, formatted after exporting to a "readable" Excel. Maybe it helps developing an importer-tool. Or is there something existing to put xlsx or csv data into CMX?

T.b.h. I don't think there will be a WeatherCat conversion tool made by Mark in the context of official tools around CumulusMX, but maybe you find somebody who will (e.g. because he/her needs it him/herself).

On the other hand, looking at your data, to make any chance you would at least need a DateTime column for the data (is this day-data or data for the monthly log ?). And your WindGust column sometimes contains dates (e.g. 04,08,2024) so make sure your data in the file is consistent.

If you can program a bit you might try to convert it yourself in a trial and error effort. If the data is logfile data you might try to feed the data to CMX as a device feed. That would make all calculation and storage a CMX effort and you only would need to feed your data step by step to the device (e.g. a HTTP device)

You will never get to know CMX better than playing with it.

I have a number of converters in the works; the WLK to v4 converter is progressing nicely, and work on WeatherDisplay and Weather Cat converters will be next.

Nope, not announced until now ;)
The existing converters convert to V3 log formats, so I thought we needed some new v4 converters.
- I have internet this evening! :)
