Data not showinjg for last week

From Cumulus MX version 3 build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since, and has recently released Cumulus MX version 4. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

I've changed the owner and permissions for the dayfile.txt. Strangely that was the only file which was just root access.
It appears like it has only recently started and I've not changed anything

thanks

How are you running CumulusMX? If this is being run as "root" then any files it needs to create will be owned by "root".

I am running CMX as a service, according the information I read when I first installed CMX4 and dotnet.

Than as long as you put your user name into the service creation there shouldn't be a problem. Just keep an eye on things as it looks as if the ownership of the file was modified somehow.

If you need to edit the dayfile then use of the editor from the local console web page is highly recommended !

Is it possible that you ran the conversion utility or create missing as the root user?

@phipough
I'm not sure what you mean: 'Than as long as you put your user name into the service creation there shouldn't be a problem.'

@freddie
Yes I did as a matter of fact. I take I shouldn't have done!

As long as you realise and reset the permissions - it doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things.

As I said, I changed owner to rob , and permissions to 777. It should be ok now , but I'll still check tomorrow

I wouldn't use 777 permissions as that is far too permissive. As long as you have changed ownership then that will be sufficient.

From the instructions in viewtopic.php?t=22051

Installing as a Service on Linux

Cumulus MX can run as a service on Linux, it now has the ability create the service config file for you.

Caution: If you already have v3 running as a service the self-installer for v4 will overwrite your v3 service config file! Only use the self-installer if v4 is the only copy of MX running on the box, or you are prepared to manually adjust the config files.

To run the self-installer, run Cumulus MX v4 with elevated privileges and use the -install option...

Code: Select all

sudo dotnet CumulusMX.dll -install -user <username> [-group <groupname>] [-port port_num] [-lang <lang-code>]

Yes that is what I did, ran it as root, and that was probably why my dayfile was not accessible for updating
