Ecowitt battery alarm

From Cumulus MX version 3 build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since, and has recently released Cumulus MX version 4. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

Ecowitt battery alarm

Post by philpugh »

Mark: I know this is (not) your favourite topic!

I'm consistently getting an error notification on my WH65 ecowitt device which when I turn logging on turns out to be a soil temperature probe. Problem is this is the error posted :
2024-06-05 17:20:30.549 - WH34CH1 sensor id = 16214 signal = 4 battery = 1.80V (Low)

A couple of things to note - The device is actually a WN34 - but this isn't a problem - the real issue is that it is being flagged as a low battery when the single cell lithium AA battery is new and is showing 1.80V.

I understand the issues around the inconsistencies of Ecowitt nomenclature and data formats - but can anything be done pls?

I found that I got these if I had forgotten to Disable all the sensors I did not possess in the Sensors ID section of the setup.

Hi, I have disabled all the unused ones. This is in use and reporting data ok. The id in the MXdiags log relates to the soil temp probe that is the issue. I suspect it may be down to the variation in methods used by Ecowitt to report values?
