Post server migration, my site no longer receives NOAA nor MySQL data

From Cumulus MX version 3 build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since, and has recently released Cumulus MX version 4. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

Post server migration, my site no longer receives NOAA nor MySQL data

Post by pkiener »

My web hosting service (tsoHost) migrated my website to another server over the weekend. Now, NOAA reports and data uploaded to MySQL are no longer working and I am getting error messages:

2024-06-03 14:57:35 - RealtimePHP[9999]: HTTP Error uploading to /home/kiener/public_html/Saratoga/Reports/NOAAMO0624.txt: Response code = 500: InternalServerError

2024-06-03 14:57:05 - Realtime[187]: Error - Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

2024-06-03 14:57:05 - Realtime[187]: Error encountered during MySQL operation = Access denied for user 'uk775i71kh91'@'65.118.19.101' to database 'uk775i71kh91_FairfieldWX'

Due to the server migration, I now have a new login/username and I was forced to change my password as well. Logging into the CumulusMX dashboard, I have attempted to change my login and password, but I am not sure if I have been able to change them. I've checked the cumulusmx.ini and realized that the logins/passwords are encrypted, so that doesn't help. I've gone through the setup wizard but couldn't find where I could change the login/password. (I'm using PHP upload, and that seems to be working ok). Internet settings did not provide me with the option to change login/password; MySQL Settings did provide me with the option to change login/password. For what it's worth, I am able to access my website using FileZilla, so I know that my new login/password is working.

My system: CumulusMX (4.0.1-b4023) running on Raspberry Pi (Raspbian GNU/Linux 11 (bullseye)). Before the server migration, I was getting good uploads for the website (weather.paulkiener.com).

Any help or suggestion is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Paul

If you use the standard dashboard for all Password fields if you left click on the password the password is revealed so you can change it.

I am on TsoHost and I have found the migration to be quite easy and the instruction page tells you what you have to change including the FTP users and password.

If you are using email alerts the SMTP settings have also changed, so they will have to be modified.

You will also need to check your DNS name servers if you are using a domain that was registered to another provider.

The MySQL server is probably not working because the password has possibly changed and I also received an email from them saying the MySQL version on this Cpanel supports only the MyISAM storage engine and as I was using the InnoDB storage engine I had to convert the databases.

The only place I found to change the login/password was on the MySQL settings page. But that didn't help the upload of the NOAA reports.

Yes, the instruction page was helpful for me as well, and that's how I managed to get FileZilla to work properly.

I had no idea as to what you were saying! Sorry, I'm still trying to learn about SQL. However, I was able to dig a little and found that my tables are all using the InnoDB storage engine. Guess I have a huge learning curve to convert the databases! That will come, I hope, in due time.

For the moment, my biggest problem is trying to get the NOAA reports working again.

Hi,
(I'm using PHP upload, and that seems to be working ok).
If you have changed from FTP upload to PHP upload you will likely need to change your NOAA settings > Upload Options > Upload folder: to just Reports. This is because the Reports folder is relative to where your uploads.php file is located.

Enjoy,
Paul

Hi,
Possibly a change/correction to the NOAA path... after further checking, your reports are in https://www.paulkiener.com/Saratoga/NOAA/NOAAYR2024.txt so not in /Reports so for the NOAA settings > Uploads folder you will need to enter the path to that /NOAA folder relative to where the uploads.php is located i.e. NOAA or ./NOAA

Enjoy,
Paul

Paul,
Thank you very much for your insight! You were correct. The path needed to be corrected. Not sure how it was working correctly a few days ago before the migration, but it is now working. Thanks!

Hi Paul,
You're welcome, and glad you have it working again. And likely when it was working before the migration you had been using FTP uploads which uses the full path.

Enjoy,
Paul
