Welcome to the Cumulus Support forum.
Latest Cumulus MX V4 release 4.0.1 (build 4023) - 16 May 2024
(Note that 4.1.0 (build 4024) - 05 June 2024 remains available, but usage of this version is not recommended - particularly for Davis stations - and the included utility in this distribution for migrating to v4 is known to contain errors affecting conversion of dayfile.txt)
Latest Cumulus MX V3 release 3.28.6 (build 3283) - 21 March 2024
Legacy Cumulus 1 release 1.9.4 (build 1099) - 28 November 2014
(a patch is available for 1.9.4 build 1099 that extends the date range of drop-down menus to 2030)

Davis WL Console windspeed too low
Hello, this thread was pertaining to my question so I thought I could piggyback off of it...
I just moved to the Davis 6313 console, everything is running well now except for the graph of my wind speed (the gust is fine) when cumulus downloads the historical data, everything is good, the wind data matches what it should be on weatherlink.com. But after cumulus has been running the windspeed drops dramatically, say the windspeed is 3.4mph, cumulus would report the wind speed as 0.4-0.5mph.
I find it interesting cumulus downloads the historical data just fine, but after its running the windspeed is much lower than it should be.
I have messed with the common options and the advance options, but after clicking the average boxes in different variations of on or off, the windspeed flatlines.
When I restart the program no matter what I had last saved the setting as, the average cumulus speed box is always checked.

Please switch on debug and data logging, let MX run for a while and post the resulting log file.

Hello, let me know if I'm missing anything you need...
I took a screenshot, the data to the left of the calm period is accurate data, the windspeed to the right was ran while cumulusmx was live, so its the erroneous data.

Hi,
A short period i.e. 15 to 30 minutes should be fine, and the monthly log file that includes that logging period.
Enjoy,
Paul

Re: Davis WL Console windspeed too low
If you switch them on they should start without a restart. It is more likely that you did not Save the settings after switching them on, because if you do not do that they will not start.

Re: Davis WL Console windspeed too low
OK, it's a problem in Cumulus. It is always calculating the average wind speed (ignoring the advanced settings), but there just isn't enough data available when using the cloud as a source. I'll change it to use the average speed value from the cloud.
