VantageVue Temp/Humidity Sensor Replacement

My station has been down for a long time now, since the temperature & humidity sensor died. I removed the Sensiron SHT11 sensor with the thought I might try to replace it. I didn't do a great job and pulled the solder pads off. I decided against trying, as I wasn't confident I could get it working again even with a new sensor and didn't want to waste the money.
I found a sensor that is supposedly an SHT11 upgraded version, that uses an SHT30 with a circuit board to make it compatible with the SHT11. It comes packed in a probe with a 4 wire interface that matches the interface specs for the SHT11. I think the wires would be easier to solder onto the VantageVue board, and perhaps the probe would protect the new sensor from meeting the same fate as the old one.
Either way, I could get an SHT11 or this upgraded version for about $15. What do you think? Is it worth a try?
Here's photos.
