North Wind direction
Is it possible to chage the wind direction degrees on the "direction rose" such that it reads the more normal 360 degrees for North and not zero?

Re: North Wind direction
Do you mean the compass thing - the one in the middle on the main screen?
If you can provide some evidence that 360 is more normal, I'll be happy to change it.

Re: North Wind direction
I've found a number of references to 360 being the international standard (but also just a few saying 360 is never seen).
I guess that as well as displaying it as 360, it should also go into the logs as 360, which might cause me a few problems

Re: North Wind direction
Maybe I have opened a can of worms?
Certainly in the aviation world I am involved in 360 is always used, and I thought this was the case in the weather forecasting world.
Actually, I have also been playing with Weather Display and although the main screen on that does show 360 some of the tags used form the custom pages, do use zero instead.. more confusion

Yes, it seems you're absolutely right. Anyway, I've done the changes and I'll unleash them shortly to see what havoc I can causegoldrush wrote: and I thought this was the case in the weather forecasting world.

In a 360 degree compass, the readings go from 0 (which counts) to 359. Many instruments show 360 but are mathematically incorrect since that would mean you had a 361 degree compass.
I dont think it really matters though

Re: North Wind direction
Yes, I found a few pictures of compasses, and many of them did go from 0 to 359. But it seems that in meteorology, 360 is the standard for north.

Re: North Wind direction
In my guide I have from the Met Office my understanding is that it reads from 1-360. There is no "zero" 1. would be the first measure eg NNE and ending up at 360 due north. ? Apologies if you have now covered this topic.

Re: North Wind direction
Thanks for confirming that, Paul. Cumulus now reports 1-360, except when there is zero wind, when it reports 0 for the average wind direction, which Dave Wheeler tells me is correct.
