CUtils v7 upgrade notes

Hi Hans
I just did a full upgrade of my RPi for CMX and CUtils from the betas we have been testing. CMX initially did not auto start on reboot but that was sorted with the self installer rather than using the older cumulusmx service method.
Since I do not use commas to separate decimals, operating in a English environment that warning did not really apply
The crontab warning had already been addressed but it did prompt me to clean up the crontab to remove the old non functioning .exe type instructions.
All seems to be working now as expected.
One comment I have relates to your upgrade notes on CustomLogs and the is a small typo in you code select towards the end of your post which should read cumulusutils.dll
Code: Select all
When starting CMX:
Don't forget to go into the CMX console and check the CustomLog definitions are OK after editing your inifile.
When done and satisfied: run
CODE: SELECT ALL
dotnet /utils/bin/cumulusuyils.dll customlogs
It should all be OK now.
Hopefully this will be the least of your worries, keep up the great work

I downloaded it I think but haven't started - not in a huge rush, basic migration to 4 worked fine but waiting until the uniqueid is a persistent file before I take it any further.

Thanks for the confirmations.
@rogethn: Two sites on the same position do not ho well on the map so sometimes I see the v6 version and sometimes the v7 version depending which gets published last. I am not sure if I will do something to accommodate more sites for one position... can't solve it on short term, it requires quite some map modification. Unfortunately the combination of more locations into one showing the nr of points on the map is not automatic (afaik)
@Paul: There seems to be an issue with loading the first chart (and for you all the others in the Home page charts). The problem afaics is the same as we found yesterday with
lse-cumulus which is currently not understood but it seems related to running something which disturbs the javascript engine (notably jQuery). Apparently this requires more investigation than I thought

Might be related to .NET (as that is the major difference between v6 and v7)

I don't understand what you mean by the persistence of
uniqueid.txt. Once created that file will never change again and must remain part of the installation just as much as
Cumulus.ini

Version 6 created at 10:01 and version 7 10:02
Seems to be identical maps.txt
Code: Select all
diffs=$(diff /home/pi/CumulusMX/utils/maps.txt /home/pi/CMX4/CumulusMX/utils/maps.txt)
echo $diffs

The maps are identical (they should be), it is not the difference which can show you duplicate positional entries.
Each site only generates its map entry once per day.
Indeed there is only one marker for you:
https://rogerthn.se/cumulusutils_2024 , so this means that you use either the same
CumulusUtils.ini or something else creates only one entry. E.g.
https://www.goosegate.uk/ (Antrobus) has 3 sites on the same location which are all three represented in the map.
If you wish to discuss this issue let's not do it in this thread. Either create a new thread or use PM please.

I'm OK if you are, v3 should be gone "soon".

I just did a complete rebuild of my RPi starting with ssd format and reinstall of Raspberry Pi 64bit OS and then reinstall dotnet 8.0.3, CMX 4.0.0 b 4017 and CUtils 7.0.0 public beta 1. This was to remove any residual traces of mono and to be in a good position for future updates. Probably overkill but it has been done.
All is working just as expected and the process tested my installation notes which required some fine tuning to sort out a few niggles.

Hans:
Have installed V7 onto all three intances of CumulusMx 4b4017 running on RPI5 (Bookworm) 64bit.
No issues to report - all working as expected (except for my Reolink weather camera - which was 'bricked' during a firmware upgrade - apparently this is quite common?)

@philpugh: ok, thanks. I assume that camera thing has nothing to do with CUtils?
