MX V4

From Cumulus MX version 3 build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since, and has recently released Cumulus MX version 4. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

MX V4

Post by davepaterson »

Mark while I admire your Computer knowledge for me the V4 is a step to far.
I use the log files and select each entry by using the coma ie: ,21,5 for temp. so will not be able to select from ,21.5 with V4 .22.5 so for me I will be sticking with V3 or as usual got it all wrong?

Could you explain a bit of the context?
What and how are you selecting and what do you with it?

V4 is not incomprehensible magic so your issue must be solvable.

I am also Puzzled? so don't ask, probably something to do with Whisky, late and an old neanderthal brain. Have installed .net8 and will just do it all when sober and awake.
Sorry for the incorrect feedback.

Took my time and V4 now installed on windows11.
from the notes : 'I strongly advise that you run v4 in parallel with v3 for the duration of the beta test.' but in diag I get '2024-03-18 17:14:40.002 Cumulus is already running - terminating'
How can you run V4 and V3 at the same time OR AM I MUT AGAIN

You have to run the second instance on a different port.

The default port is 8998, so run your v4 instance using the commands line parameter: -port 8999
You then connect to v4 using http://IP:8999

I shut down V3MX.exe and ran the V4 version which worked but if V3 is running V4 won't start so the dashboard wont show on any port. I have also tried to instal V4 on my second Win 11 laptop but when I tried to run MigrateData3to4 all I get is the CMD window which comes on then goes straight out. no data is changed and in MXdiags (tried to run MXV4 )the only entry is .gitignore

Did you start v4 as...
> CumulusMX.exe -port 8999

That should work, the "already running" detection includes the port number, so two instances on different ports are allowed to run together.

Dave
Start a cmd prompt, then:

> cd \path\to\cmxv4
> CumulusMX.exe -port 8999

Hi,
I do this often from the Windows icon (lower left) click and select Run, or Windows System then Run.
C:\CumulusMX\CumulusMX.exe
C:\CumulusMX3\CumulusMX.exe -port 8993
C:\CumulusMX4beta\CumulusMX.exe -port 8994
and as many different installs as you want ;)
The previously used paths are saved in the Run box so just a matter of selecting the correct CMX install line and press OK

Enjoy,
Paul
