Dew point broken?

Post by Meteosat »

Hi all the 1081 has been working well for a couple of weeks, but with the recent cold spell something appears to have gone wrong with the humidity/dewpoint indicator - see:

http://www.meteosat.talktalk.net/Porthcawl/trends.htm

Wonder if anyone else has experienced this and what might be the cause?

Cheers

Is 'Calculate Dew Point' ticked in your Station Settings page?

It looks like your humidity sensor is broken - stuck at 99%. It's possible your humidity really is that high, of course.

I could accept that the humidity was very high as the snow band was with us - but today it should be much lower. I am wondering if some snow crept into the humidity sensor - can I take it apart at all to check?

Otrherwise back to Maplin unfortunately!

I guess that if it was covered in snow which melted, some of it may have found its way inside. I would bring it inside, open it up and dry it out.

It does look as though the humidity in your area is up in the nineties at the moment, though.

Yes - so it says - my other outside unit is declaring 93% - so perhaps I won't give up quite yet!

Hoping for some nice sunshine to maybe warm things up. The sensor had its usual protection on, but I notice on lifting the cover that there was some condensation on the inside - or even melted snow flakes?

Many thanks

Even as I speak it has now gone to 98% - so perhaps there is hope after all!!

I've been having very strange readings today - it's been very damp but the outside humidity sensor says otherwise.

Sorry, no banner - weather station out of action. Hoping to be up and running with a new home-made one soon.
