ECOWITT WN34 Soil Temperature Sensor fault

My WN34 has been reading a toasty 60c underground, I'm expecting a gyser or volcano to break up through the garden anytime now....

I checked the probe LCD and it's also reading this - so it's not a CMX issue - has anyone had success repairing these? As much as I love Ecowitt I have to say some of the sensors really don't have a good reliability record (issues with soil moisture ones in the past too)

Had the same thing earlier this week but mine was reading -40! I got 2.5 years service from mine, which is okay for a £25 sensor. I didn't attempt to fix - just ordered a replacement.

Thanks Freddie, I ordered another but might make a project of taking the old one apart.

Ian - did you take it apart?

Were there signs of corrosion or water ingress anywhere?

No I haven't I still have it somewhere, but I also have a load of dodgy water moisture sensors also - ecowitts quality appears a little flaky sometimes.

I agree re quality... cheap components (supercaps anyone?) and soldering is a bit hit or miss...

Great value however, when they are working.
