Ecowitt with Cumulus v1.9.4

Hi Guys

Fine offset has bit the dust after many long years.... and it appears the Ecowitt range is a cost effective replacement.

I am still running Cumulus v1.9.4 and have avoided MX since release.... will the Ecowitt work with the old version? I have only seen references to MX so suspect not...

I have little appetite to upgrade as I suspect a world of pain given the other integrations I have...

Many thanks

Sorry NO it will only work with CumulusMX.

As for Ecowitt, good choice I haven't regretted the change.

The move to CumulusMX is not hard to be honest, but I am happy to help if required.

Took a look at your website in the link, there doesn't appear to be many additions that can't be used in MX but it doesn't appear to have been updated since last May and some of the links have PHP faults.

Thanks Both

Cookies is a big subject.... no way reject means they are all mandatory... :o

David - thanks for the support there - the FineOffset dies last year and I have never had the time to do anything other than fresh batteries and resets.. to no avail. I have been checking ebay and gumtree with the vain hope that another station would appear....

So - am I better to buy the GW1101 with 7 in 1 sensor, or buy something with an LCD display like the WS2910 (or anything more expensive)?

I dont want or need any local display, I just need to get the data.

Given how cheap the GS1101 can be had for at the minute it seems a no brainer!

Hello David,

If you have no need of a LCD Display then I would buy this https://www.amazon.co.uk/ECOWITT-Weathe ... to_dp&th=1

The GW1101 has a http interface so you can set up the custom server to send data to the computer MX is running on and all the readings you require including solar and UV are provided by the station. You can also set it up via the Ecowitt App on a smart phone.

It is essentially what I bought but I wanted a console so I bought the HP2551, but I am also running two additional GW1100's as they are so cheap for testing and they all use data from the same station.

I also added a lightning detector and PM 2.5 particle sensor.

Hi David

Old post... but felt I owe you an update :P

I bought an ecowitt as you suggested (with 868 GW), and was lucky to pick up a set of other sensors (with 433 GW) on ebay with lightening and air quality for not much money, so now cooking by gas.

Thanks to Andy ( Big Daddy), his latest WT_data files include the extra sensors, So I just need to be brave enough to edit the relevant files (when I find them ) to add the new sensors to the web site.

All great stuff! - thanks for the initial steer.

David

Just a quick message from me too - My FineOffset finally gave up this year - well the humidity readings anyway which meant the circuit board and I've put off replacing it until now. I've just discovered the Ecowitt GW1201 and doing a bit of research. Good to see others have found it a suitable replacement for the FineOffset with the bonus of add on sensors and the opportunity to still use Cumulus if I desire

I am assuming this is a mistake but just checking, Cumulus doesn't work with Ecowitt, but CumulusMX does.

I'm in a similar situation to users above. My rain sensor isn't working, but I've a funny feeling it might be the connector in the transmitter. I do have a fairly new receiver, but the rest of the kit is old so going to treat myself.

As Amazon have an offer on the WS2910, I'm considering one of those.

Is it a fairly simple / seamless process to get Cumulus to talk the the new unit?

Oh, and with this sort of setup, would the whole sensor unit need replacing if one bit goes wrong?
