Email alarms

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

Email alarms

Post by KenKenyon »

I have tried to set up email alarms for a couple of things and clicking "Update Alarms" tells me that settings have been updated. However, when I try to send a test email I get the error below which I'm afraid means nothing to me. I've had a look at the Wiki but I couldn't find
the answer there. There isn't really a lot to setting this up as far as I can see but I must be missing something obvious I suppose.

All I've basically done is tick a couple of boxes (low battery, data connection lost) and added a from email address and a to email address. I have tried using the same address for both and also a different address for each.

"Test email failed: Object reference not set to an instance of an object".

You haven't mentioned it but have you set up the Email Server Settings in Internet Settings?

Very many thanks water01. That fixed it. Just a bit of messing around to overcome Gmail's 2 step authentication but it worked. I probably wasted an hour on this and as I've now discovered, when I get stuck someone on cumulusmx support always comes to the rescue and sorts my problem in no time.
