Flat lined wind

The Ecowitt WS80 again - after a year or so - goes flat line for the wind chart. I have to take it down again, clean, update and restart. I bought a second WS80 to make exchange for maintenance possible but unfortunately that one did not arrive yet. So a busy day through a wet pasture in the rain. Why does this always happen in bad weather and cold? Does that have anything to do with failing of the equipment of Ecowitt?

That happened to my WS80 yesterday morning, had to reset it to get it working again. Mine is on the latest fw is yours? Report it to Ecowitt if you've not already done it.

No it was still on the old firmware so I had to get it down and update. It had performed well for more than a year so some disappointment here.
And it seems always in cold, rainy and windy weather. Does that ring a bell?

Yes it has happened to me several times in bad weather. I last had a freeze around May time which is when I installed the latest f/w which Ecowitt assured me addressed this issue

. I am talking to Ecowitt about this.

So it seems a combination of low temp and strong wind (> Bf 5) and wet weather.
Suggest this as a cause maybe.

Yesterday it had not been raining since about 05:30 and the freeze happened around 13:00, windy but not too cold at around 9-10°C. Mostly happens when windy and sometimes raining but not always.
