Re: FTP Connect Error, Error code = 530
FTP error code 530 is 'user authentication failed', so the server is not letting you log in. It may be that Cumulus gets stuck after this error, or maybe the error keeps being returned. Have you tried turning on ftp logging and looking in the ftp log?

Re: FTP Connect Error, Error code = 530
Error code 530 for FTP connections is a generic User Cannot Login error. It could be a number of issues....
Wrong user id
Wrong password
Account is locked
Home directory is not accessible
Check your userid/password to make sure it is correct. If that is correct, you might need to check with your provider.

I would first suggest you 'Force' A web update, using the 'Web Update' Button in 'File' within Cumulus and then navigate to C:/programfiles/cumulus/ftplog.txtpol wrote:the FTP logging is checked but there is nowhere ftplog.txt in cumulus folder

Hi Pol,
So just to re-cap:
You have turned on FTP Logging
You have clicked File, Web Update
That gave an error message (in a small window)
You close down Cumulus
There is no ftplog.txt

Re: FTP Connect Error, Error code = 530
I've been wondering about changing the installer so it doesn't offer a location under Program Files by default, then people using Vista/Windows 7 who don't read the readme (or choose to ignore the recommendation) won't keep causing unnecessary extra work for people trying to be helpful on the forum. I'm always a bit worried about changing things like that though, in case it screws things up for people upgrading. I think it's clever and works out where an existing installation is, so it should be OK, in theory.
I guess as take up of Windows 7 increases, this is only going to happen more often.

Sounds like a good idea Steve. Would certainly mean less Q's on here regarding Installation.steve wrote:I've been wondering about changing the installer so it doesn't offer a location under Program Files by default, then people using Vista/Windows 7 who don't read the readme (or choose to ignore the recommendation) won't keep causing unnecessary extra work for people trying to be helpful on the forum. Either that or offer two flavors of C1 - C1 for Windows XP and C1 for Vista/W7?
Easier to do 1 flavor, especially if theres the possibility it 'Knows' were to install the new files when 'Upgrading'.
Or further still, An option in the installer where, you HAVE to select your O/S I.E -- Windows XP or Windows Vista/7 -- The difference being that, either option will install the files into the 'Preferred' O/S format.
Full support here.

I agree -- I would solve several day one problems
(almost off topic Mr Steve, was tempted to split
I can see a tenuous link)
