I've knocked up a quick and dirty app for converting FreeWX logfiles to Cumulus format (PLEASE tell me if I'm reinventing the wheel here!).
The logfiles created look OK, but I can't seem to get them to work with Cumulus.
Here's what I've been doing:
Create the files (sample attached)
Place them in the cumulus data folder
Restart Cumulus
Use "View/This Month", and change the Month/Year to Dec 09.
At this point, nothing useful happens - All the data fields are now blank.
Any advice or pointers gratefully welcomed...

I think the View/This Month, etc only take their data from the dayfile.txt and not the month logs

Hi Roddyp,
yes - as a matter-of-fact you're inventing the wheel
I have code to do that, and have done it successfully for forum member laulau.
The sample you attached looks OK to me as far as format is concerned, but it looks strange in the sense that it starts with 20/12/09 and has 01/12/09 data at the end. Maybe that confuses Cumulus?
I take it that you have generated a dayfile.txt to go with your data?
Anyway: if you'd like me to give it a try - at least for comparison - just send me a PM and attach your data, and tell me your units for wind, temperature, pressure, and rain (as specified on the Cumulus station page)

That would explain it. I was under the illusion that dayfile.txt was only a 'most recent day/month' log.daj wrote:I think the View/This Month, etc only take their data from the dayfile.txt and not the month logs

Re: Data Import from FreeWX
Hello, I'm new to Cumulus, I am trying it as a replacement for FreeWX.
I have FreeWX log files going back to 2003 and would like to import them to Cumulus before switching over, does anyone have an easy way of doing this? I have Delphi 2007 if anyone has any code.

If you get either Roddy or Ib (Dane) to create the "monthly" logs for you, note that the latest build of Cumulus 1.9.2 has the ability to create the dayfile.txt file from the monthly logs.
