Alarm Latches - Less than 1 hour

Post by Palmyweather »

Sorry if this has been posted in the wrong section or already discussed somewhere else however I cannot find any reference at this time.

Is it possible for the alarm latches to be set to less than 1 hour?

I have tried setting some alarm latches to 0.5 (for a 30 min alarm) and 0.25 (for a 15 min alarm). The 0.5 alarm worked very well but I needed to change the 15 min latch to 0.2 for this to function to work.

The issue I found however is when Cumulus MX is closed and restarted, these latch hours revert back to "1" by default.

Using latch timers less than one hour may be useful to others, not just myself, and could be used in many different ways.

I was using these short alarm latches for:
* Wind Gust - If there are high wind gusts being recorded, I wanted it to display this warning for 30 minutes on my site rather than an alarm that comes on and off between potentially high winds.
* Rain Rate - If the rain rate exceeds the preset level, I wanted to display the warning for 15 minutes. Theory being that the rain rate might drop for a short period of time below warning level, but become heavy once again shortly after.
* Is Raining - Similar to the reasons noted above for Rain Rate.

Another reason for extending these alarms/warnings out a little longer is so people who look at my site might get a bit of a warning of what is coming to them after it has passed my station. However I feel that displaying these alarms for 1 hour is a little too long for how quickly the weather can change.

Thank you for your time,
Matt

Thanks, many of the alarms were incorrectly reverting to integer values on restart, I've fixed this for the next release.
