Cumulus Support

After using Cumulus1 for over a decade and it and my website working seamlessly apart from a few issues along the way, I made the decision to upgrade to MX. Initially I couldn't upload to the server until I was advised that the host site had changed - strange as Cumulus1 and the website were working normally with the old hostname until I started the MX process! Changing the host name resulted in the expected data updates to the server, it also produced the new MX website template pages. There is one problem in that the new webpage templates are empty and no data is being shown.
Cumulus MX is updating the server correctly: the realtime.txt file has just updated at 10.23 the 10.22 data transfe,r so updating doesnt seem to be a problem but somehow this data doesn't update the the web pages.
To try and resolve the problem, I have removed all 'old' Cumulus1 files from the server and sent them to trash, then deleted the MX server files so the the server wasn't corrupted by any 'old' files. I have then reinstalled MX but the problem remains in that the server is being updated but the webpages aren't. Cumulus MX on the PC is working fine although it didnt copy over my historic data unfortunately.
I have now exhausted my limited knowledge and hoping that someone can provide some help to resolve this issue.
Any assisance will be much appreciated.

It would be helpful if you posted a link to your website so we can investigate.

CumulusMX does not do this automatically, you have to copy ALL the Cumulus 1 data files to your CumulusMX Data directory. You will also have to set the CumulusMX Start Date to the date you started collecting data in Cumulus 1 so it will show up, as CumulusMX start date defaults to the date you first ran it.

Edit If you are https://www.farleighmeadows.co.uk/ then it looks like you haven't uploaded the web files correctly keeping the directory structure.

Thank your for your prompt response.
1. Historic data: I did change the start date to 22 Sept 2010 which was the day my continous records started but nothing happened. At the moment I will leave that as it is until I get the web pages working.
2. www.farleighmeadows.co.uk. Yes that is my website and I didnt realised that I needed to copy the heirarchy when I upgraded to Cumulus MX assuming that this happened automatically but perhaps I didn't read the instructions correctly.
I'm not clear where I will find this? Can you enlighten me please?

OK Tony no problem.

When you unzipped the CumulusMX download for Build 3248 and unzipped it you saw 8 directories and all the files for running CumulusMX.

Assuming you set up a directory called CumulusMX copy Directories - Interface, mqtt, MXDiags, MXutils, wb, x64 and x86 and all the files to that directory. This is where you run CumulusMX on your computer either as a service or by using a command prompt with Administrator permissions.

Then enter webfiles directory and you will see 5 directories and 14 files. Copy all of these directories and files keeping the structure (i.e. 5 directories and 14 files) to the position on your webserver where you are setting up your website (i.e. it looks like you using the public_html directory with no sub directory).

This will result in the same directory structure of 5 directories and 14 files on your server.

As long as you uploads are working you should now see the web pages in all there glory with data in them. If data is missing from graphs etc. check Internet Settings > Interval Configuration > Normal Interval Settings > Standard File Settings or Graph File settings or Daily Graph File Settings and tick the appropriate data file.

I have attempted to upload the 5 directories and 14 files to the server but when I try to upload the files the message says these files are already on the server and do I want to overwrite. I opted for yes - fine.
I was not allowed to upload the directory folders and had a message saying that uploading folders was not permitted! I did try to upload the individual files and the majority were already on the server. THe exception were the files in CSS which I uploaded individually. There was a slight improvement as I now have a picture of the moon phase on the otherwise empty webpages!
The directoryMX downloaded from the original zip file has the following folders: backup, data,interface, MQTT, Mx Diags, MXUtils, Reports, Web, Webfiles, X64 and X86 plus many other separate files.
The folders that I could not upload to the server are from the Webfiles folder.
I have again checked the latest realtime.txt and confirm that this file is current and correctly shown on the server. I now don't even have the empty webpages to console except reams of text.
I am at loss what is wrong.
I think that perhaps I should delete everything from the server delete the downloaded zip files and start with a clean sheet! Might this be the best option?

OK Tony what FTP client are you using as it should allow uploading of folders (I use Filezilla https://filezilla-project.org/), unless of course it is hosting site restriction.

The other alternative is to create the directories manually (it should allow that) and then transfer the contents of each directory into the same directory on the server. You have to have this directory structure as this is how the code looks for it's files.

Thank you for your help today which has been much appreciated. Finally with the help of Firezilla I managed to get the webfiles folder and associated files uploaded to the server. Hey presto! Farleigh Meadowss website is back up and running and as a bonus the historic data is showing.

Although I looked at the website and the Historic Charts are not populated.

I noticed something in your second post.

But did you copy all the files in the Cumulus 1 Data directory to the CumulusMx Data directory. If not the Start Date will not matter as there is no data to pick up I,e. no monthly log files for all the years, no dayfiles etc.

I'm almost afraid to ask for yet more help but I'm now at the point of not keeping my website going because of the time and effort to try to get it to work. For some weeks I have had problems and despite following the instructions closely I still cannot get my website to load. I began to wonder whether I'd somehow corrupted CumulusMX and have now reverted to version 3279 on the basis that this would be a fresh installation.
I deleted the folders and files from the public.html directory on the server and installed 3279 and ai2 in a newly named folder (2903) and then uploaded to the server. This I believed would have meant a completely fresh start. I was and am able to access the Dashboard page at localhost:8998 etc and this is working perfectly and updating normally. I have checked the Latest Errors on the Utilities tab which clearly shows 'No errors' recorded. I can access the AI Interface at http://localhost:8998/ai2/current.html and this is updating although some of the dropdown options do not work.
I can see the what I believe is the index page of the website but this is not populated with data and not in the right format.
What I dont fully understand are the JSON files - should they be on the server and if so where. These clearly show that they are being regularly updated.

I am completely at a loss what to do next - possibly delete it all and forget the website which has been going now for more than a decade.
If anyone has any further suggestions, they would be gratefully received and this old man might then rest easy!
I have to attach the MX diagnostic file and although I can attach it, the file says 'not downloaded yet' which seems very odd. The same is true of the Service Consol log and the FTP file. Easy to attach but both say 'not downloaded yet'.

It looks like you have the web site files uploaded to the "/webfiles" folder, but you are uploading the JSON files to "/”.

Move all the files in the /webfiles folder into the root folder where all the JSON files are located. Your site should then work.

Thank you for responding. Probably I has misread or intrepreted your advice but the status quo remains. The interface works fine but I cannot access my website.
My directory structure is as follows: C/2903 (simply wanted a fresh folder so used an abbreviated date)/CumulusMx (download 3279)/backup:data: interface:mqtt:Mxdiags:Mxutils:Reports:Web/Webfiles:X64:X68 followed by files. All these folders and files remained unchanged by me from the download except that the interface folder has the subfolder Ai2 which was added from the 'double' zip file.
I have moved the JSON folder intact so it is now added to the list of the standard folders listed above.
I have again deleted the files and folders on the server which constitute public_html and reinstalled to reflect the move of the JSON folder.
Obviously I have done something wrong but the outcome is the same.
Have you any further advice please?

Hi Tony,

It looks like you have uploaded the whole CumulusMX folder to your webserver’s public_html. There seems to be CumulusMX.exe, the inifile containing your ftp server details etc, so please delete them asap. You only should manually once upload the contents from inside of webfiles folder to your public_html.

Looks like you have copied all folders from webfiles but you need to copy all htm-files as well.

This something not related to the webserver issue below. I do not use ai2 so unfortunately cannot help with that.
