I am trying to help a person install CMX on a MacBook. I have never used a Mac... any guidance on what and how?
My normal process is -
Download latest release and unzip to C:\CumulusMX
Run C:\CumulusMX\CumulusMX.exe as administrator
In a browser enter URL localhost:8998 or the listed ipaddress:8998\wizard.html and complete the setting prompts, and Save
Stop CMX and restart

Is it about the same for Mac?
Paul

You need to install mono.
I did a test last year and ran CumulusMX on a Macbook.

Basically running on mac is comparable to running on linux, since macos is based on bsd. There probably are some differences regarding user rights or sudo, and probably there is a local firewall that may get involved if accessing CMX console outside localhost is needed. Running as service probably also is very different, if even possible. I don’t own a mac, so this is quite speculative unfortunately.

Thanks Steinar and SamiS,
So far not encouraging for me to help him as I have never used a Mac, and have no understanding of Mono, linux, sudo, etc. I volunteered to see if I could help before realizing he is not a Windows user. I have looked in the Wiki https://www.cumuluswiki.org/a/MX_on_Lin ... ng_Systems but haven't found much on the steps on installing.

Enjoy,
Paul

Unfortunately the wiki article is written on assumption that the user has basic knowledge of command line usage of linux/mac. If you are familiar with windows command line, the main difference is that you do not have drive letters (only a path starting from /), then \ is replaced with / on paths, copy is replaced with cp and sudo in front of command means running it as admin. Hope this helps a bit.
