I have been running Cumulus and updating my website www.pc-king.co.uk/weather since 2010 and it’s been running fine and I haven’t touched anything for a number of years. I am just turning 70 and my hosting service 123-reg is changing their pricing structure to a point where I can no longer justify the cost. I don’t want to loose the data that is held on the website and would like to continue to have the ability to continue to update the data but just for my own personal use, obviously this would mean not paying for a hosting service. Has anyone done this? If so, I would value some advice/assistance on how I might achieve this. Please bear in mind that my brain power is that of a 70 year old…….
Hi,
I'm turning 70 next year and I've been working with "IT" since the early 80 st and I've have had my own local (on-prem) web server for more than 20 years.
That said and depending "where you come from" maybe XAMPP could be something for you?
Just a thought, if you don't want to pay for your website hosting and only want to see your data locally why not just look at the CMX admin pages. After all that is where your data really is, the website is just another method of looking at the CMX recorded data.

He is running Cumulus v1.9.4 (1099) and Hurstpierpoint Weather do have some more than what can be seen on the console?
I don't remember what the OLD console looked like
I would like to thank those of you that have responded. I have identified that I have some free legacy hosting with my broadband provider so I am going to see if I can transfer across, it's a bit of a struggle as documentation and support from PlusNet is rather limited but it's looking promising so far. It will be using a different domain name www.pc-king.me.uk but fingers crossed
Apart from a little tidying up still to be done I'm pleased to say I've been able to transfer my site to free webspace from my broadband provider. My weather station is now on www.pc-king.me.uk (it can also be accessed on www.pcking.plus.com ). Unfortunately, I’ve had no success accessing my cgi space so I’m unable to run PHP files, I’m still working on this but, thanks to Beteljuice I’ve been able to produce my NOAA reports using java. It’s been quite a challenge as I’ve had to re-learn how to manage Cumulus and my website, hopefully I won’t need to do much for another decade
