Pleased to hear that.

I have 2 updates to the gadget:
- 2nd temp field: accept new additional fields in realtime.txt, e.g. field[54]: apparent temperature
- display "not updating" in red if date/time field read from realtime.txt does not change over 10 intervals

Will build new version and upload soon :)

Cumulus Realtime Gadget updated to Version 2.2IH (21. October 2010)
- accept new additional fields (up to 58) in realtime.txt
(allows you to specify e.g. realtime.txt[54]: "apparent temperature" as 2nd temp)
- display "not updating" in red if date/time in realtime.txt does not change over 10 intervals
(indicates that Cumulus is not updating realtime.txt for some reason)

New version may be downloaded from 1st post of this thread.

Hi,
I've installed v2.2TH of your gadget. I'm running W7 Home Premium. I have Cumulus installed locally. The gadget installed fine, however, it only updates if I click on options and then click on ok. It never updates automatically. I have Cumulus installed locally.

Any ideas on what I should do?

Thanks,
Dave

Hi Dave,
are you running the gadget against a realtime.txt file on your local system? if yes, then there isn't much I can do to help you.
I put in the code to support that - and failed: it hangs, and fixing it is beyond my programming skills. :(
If you can, run the widget against a realtime.txt file that resides on a website. That works OK.
(for testing, you could try my realtime.txt which is the default file in the gadget)

Had a look at your realtime.txt: you are running a Cumulus 1.8.9 which produces a realtime.txt that does not contain the field used by the gadget for wind direction: the 52nd field: wind direction (average). So I would expect you to have "undefined" for any wind speed and wind direction :?:
Suggest you upgrade Cumulus to the current stable version which builds the realtime.txt field used by the gadget.

Hi Dane. More feedback
I was having trouble with your gadget stopping reading from the realtime.txt across my local network so I changed it back to read the realtime.txt from my website but that also stops updating intermittently and I have to shut down the gadget and restart it to get it working.

Terry - same here. I don;t upload realtime.txt to any of my web sites but have access to it across my internal network. It seems to run anywhere from about 20 minutes to an hour before hanging. Only killing and then restarting the app will get it going again.
