The gadget work perfectly for me. Thank you for your exellent job.
I tried to translat-it in French. So I unzipped-it, done my change in the index.html file and rezipped-it with 7-Zip, change the .zip for .gadget and clic on it to try the instalation. As usual I can see the security message, clic on Install but nothing happend after. Is there a special way to zip a gadget or something wrong i've done ?

I can think of 2 possible reasons: you may have made a mistake in the html: a missing > or something. Or maybe 7-zip creates a zip-file that is special.
To create the zip-file I simply use Windows Explorer: select the files, right-click on one of them, and select 'send to zip-compressed folder'.

Try the attached file :)

Thank you for your answer Dane and for the file. I found what my mistake was: I zipped the folder with the files inside resulting in an extra unecessary folder. :bash:

Hi,

I am so sorry to be a pain here - but are there any instructions as to where to download this gadget (It sounds very interesting) and just exactly how to install it (I really struggle with computers) and all the help in the install of it would be greatly received.

Regards To All,

Tim

Hi Tim,

Go to Page 1 of this thread, its at the bottom of the first post in the thread, under the list of all the various version changes. Download the file called cumulusih.zip. When its downloaded, simple rename the file to cumulusih.gadget - in other words, change the extension of the file to .gadget not .zip

(Don't try to double click the original zip file! Rename it first, then double click it to install it.)

Once installed, it will show on your desktop. Click the spanner icon on it to go to settings, and enter the address for the file it needs to find, e.g www.yourwebsite/weather/realitime.txt - assuming you upload your files to a weather folder in your site, in this example.

Also, change the frequency of the updates in seconds in the other settings box.

It's all done then and should work!

Hope that helps,
Steve

Hi there. I really would like to have this as well.. I have downloaded the zip folder, and renamed it to "cumulusih.gadget". It's still looking like a zip folder though... Anyway, when I double click on it, nothing happens..
Are anyone able to spell it out for me? Sorry for this...

Double clicking on the file ending in .gadget should display the following in win7
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Did you download it to your desktop?
After you renamed it to cumulusih.gadget did the icon look like the picture below?

If it still looks like a zip folder Windows has clearly not understood that it is a gadget. Sure you renamed it correctly?

If you right-click somewhere (empty) on your desktop, does the popup menu have a "Gadgets" entry?

The popup menu (in norwegian) has an entry for "miniprogrammer" where I enable the side programs, but no "gadgets"..
After dowmloading i simply took the folder, right cklicked and selected "rename", and changed the .zip extention to .gadget.

OK - I guess "miniprogrammer" must be what even my Danish Windows calls "gadgets" :)
Could it be that whatever you renamed is actually a folder (or a zip file) containing the real zip?
What happens if you unzip whatever you renamed?
