Hi I am changing my internet provider soon and have checked out and recorded the IP addresses that are in the cumulusmx.ini. is it just a mater of checking what the new IP setting are and changing the ini file? That said there is also an entry EcowittExtraLocalAddr=192.168.0.2 but it does not show using the arp -a command although there is one 224.0.0.2
I do not have auto discover ticked and entered the GW1100 manually ,I have 2 that would be discovered using the auto route, GW1100 and HP2551.
What is the best method when changing the ISP?

Whatever router you're using (either the one provided by your ISP, or your own), you'll want to go into the DHCP section, and reserve an IP address for the MAC of your weather station to keep it fixed. This will prevent the station's IP from changing following a power failure or when your router is rebooted or updated. That is the IP you want to keep in the Cumulus INI file. Since my station is a Davis, I'm not sure how many INI entries are used for the Ecowitt. Hope this helps...

IP addresses starting 192. etc. are internal IP addresses to your network and will bear little relation to the IP address allocated to you by your ISP. I assume they will be giving you a router with the Admin address to it, so all you have to do as stated is reserve any IP addresses in the Cumulus.ini file in the IP reservation list in the router and all should continue to work as normal.

The only thing that may fail is if you hosting MySQL files on the ISP servers, and if you do you will have to grant access to those databases via the remote MySQL in the ISP's Cpanel application.

New ISP in and it's Virgin Media. There is no provision with the VM router to book any IP address. Have changed my small Net Book to VM and MX to read the HP2551 and all OK. Tried and failed several times to get the GW1100 onto VM while using the App. Always 'Device not found', gave up and restarted the old router (got 7 days to get it working before plug gets pull by my old ISP). There was no entry for the GW1100's mac and IP on the VM router page after restarting the GW1100, what am I doing wrong.
Phone is using VM

If you have Virgin Media Hub 4 you reserve IP addresses by navigating to Advanced Settings > DHCP then scroll down below the Attached Devices list and you will find Add Reserved Rule where you add the MAC address of the device and the IP Address you want to reserve for it.

You obviously need to login to the router Admin account the password is on the router.

Things I have read did not apply to my Hub. got info that all new installs were Hub 5 which can't set IP numbers. But mucking around in the routers page I did find the reserve list and added the GW1100 at 192.168.0.25 (Hub is a 3) but still locked out have attached 3 screen shots when trying to get the GW1100 as a new install, but still failed.
It's now back on the old Hub.

Sorted - Saying 'it does what it says on the tin' Says can be altered to 'read the Manual ALL THE WAY THROUGH'. Had set the IP to static and expected it after selecting VM with the password. Should have pressed APPLY :groan:
