Latest Cumulus MX V4 release 4.0.1 (build 4023) - 16 May 2024

(Note that 4.1.0 (build 4024) - 05 June 2024 remains available, but usage of this version is not recommended - particularly for Davis stations - and the included utility in this distribution for migrating to v4 is known to contain errors affecting conversion of dayfile.txt)

Legacy Cumulus 1 release 1.9.4 (build 1099) - 28 November 2014
(a patch is available for 1.9.4 build 1099 that extends the date range of drop-down menus to 2030)

Post by Mrc »

Hi. I am replacing my old weather station and maybe buying Ecowitt WS2320. Can i connect it with usb cable (ebay says it has usb) or server with my PC? Or do i need to buy GW1000 gateway? I have no experience with Ecowitt before..

I would buy from Amazon Ecowitt shop and according to Amazon they ship to Finland https://www.amazon.co.uk/stores/ecowitt ... f_=ast_bln

That particular weather station according to the WXForum bible https://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic=40730.0 is not expandable therefore not a good buy.

There is an usb connector, but most likely you cannot use it to connecting to computer if it is similar to HP2550. However it does have a wifi connection, where you can setup a custom server to send data to a computer running CumulusMX (station type HTTP Ecowitt).

Basically on Ecowitt you can choose a sensor or sensors, and then you can have one or more devices to receive them. If you buy the WS2320 you do not need a GW1100, but nothing prevents you from adding it. For example I do have both HP2551 weatherstation and a GW1100 in addition so I can experiment easily with two running cumulus instances.

I bought my Ecowitts from amazon.de, I would avoud amazon.co.uk because of customs and taxes.

the WS2320E console canNOT connect via USB (that USB port is for manufacturer use only like with the HP25x0 consoles) - only via WLAN ("WiFi") - it can store up to 3.500 records internally.
These records can be retrieved into a MS Access database on a Windows computer by the help of the WeatherSmartIP/WeatherSmartWiFi software.
It is definitely not expandable beyond temp/humid/wind/rain/solar sensors - it can only connect to a WH65/WS69 outdoor array which only provides the before mentioned data (plus pressure and indoor T/H from the console).

Like every modern Ecowitt console it can post its data not only to the 4 "standard" weather services (WU, WC, WOW, Ecowitt) but also to a customized server address (that's how it can connect to CumulusMX or weewx).
Metobridge users can directly cannot/retrieve data via its API.

You can buy from https://shop.ecowitt.com, from the Ecowitt store at e.g. amazon.de or under the name WH4000SE from https://www.froggit.de
They all ship to Finland too. By the way, when buying from Ecowitt in China you will already pay all import taxes into a EU country there. Only the delivery takes longer, but it may be worth comparing the pricing.
