Stange Graphs

Just turned on the PC and downloaded the data from my WH1081 and noticed some graphs seem to of flat lined between when I shut the PC down last night to now.

The only thing I did different was to leave the USB lead in the base unit.... could this be why the base unit failed to store data ?

I don't think leaving the USB cable connected could cause it. It may be that the unit did store the data but Cumulus couldn't read it? If you zip up the diags folder and attach it, I'll have a look.

A suggested 'cure': restart Cumulus from one of your backups.
Shut down Cumulus.
Look in your \Cumulus\backup folder: find a fairly recent backup folder - their names are date/time stamps.
Copy the contents of the chosen backup folder file into the \Cumulus\data folder.
Restart Cumulus.

Nope- that seems to of screwed it up more :( all data logged in the past couple of hours has been lost

Interestingly, I've tried restoring the last backup and it's showing data as before. When I re-launched Cumulus the "loading data" box popped up but didn't show any progression bars as would be expected... it's as though it's not actually downloading any data

We'll I backed up the config settings and then un-installed and re-installed the application. I think the problem arose after I was editing the log files to remove the rainfall entries. I opened the txt files with Excel and then saved them back as a csv file (comma delimited txt file) and then changed the ext to TXT - baybe this screwed something up ?

The strange thing is that having used the un-installer and deleted the folders and then re-installed it still shows silly results for the highest temperatures etc

The good news is that each time I disconnect and re-connect the base unit the download data shows a progression bar and data is updated.

Almost certainly. Excel changes date formats (unless you take action to stop it), it's not a good choice for editing text files. CSVed is much better.

Do you mean your highest min and lowest max (the others look fine)? As it's effectively your first day, you can't have a highest min or lowest max yet.

You seem to have turned off use of the logger:

2010-01-10 09:48:44 : UseDataLogger not set, switch to normal running

Steve, thanks for the assistance.

I reset the all time records via the EDIT menu option, which whilst it might not be exact, it's more realistic than -999C !

I'm not sure if it is worth trying to re-instate some of the back up files (difficult to locate as they now have date stamps of 10/1 as I copied to a temp folder prior to un-installing). Now that it seems to be working I'm going to un-plug the base unit for an hour or so and see if it updates or flat lines the graphs when I plug it back in.

I'll have a look for that text editor just in case I need it later....

Would there be any way to recover the corrupted janXXlog file ? which I backed up and has dates going back from when I first installed Cumulus
