Hi

I have a couple of clients that receive email alerts when my weather station reaches certain set limits. One contacted me today asking if their email address could be hidden from the others ? sort of BCC. The email that gets sent out contains everyone else's email address

Ive looked at the setup again this evening and I dont this is possible ?

Any thoughts at all thankyou

Paul

It is easy to change to using "BCC" rather than "To" for the alarms, and I cannot see any reason not to make that the default - in the next build.

I think that makes complete sense Mark, in fact I'm surprised it has not come up before, should in my opinion have always been the default. Should add that I do not use this facility and if I had I would have requested this

Just a reminder, that some spam filters are quite aggressive towards messages that have an empty to: field, so if it is not too much trouble I would give user a possibility to select between bcc and to.

I would always suggest that folks whitelist the from address in their Spam setup for these emails as I believe it is important not to publicise email addresses of subscribers.

Unfortunately some ISP:s / hosting companies / email providers don't give user any control over their spam filter other than enable or disable it completely.

I agree that in many cases using Bcc is well recommended, and hiding addresses from other users is maybe even required, if gdpr is applied in that use case. But since most of the Cumulus installs are in private use, I dislike the idea of changes that "fix things for one and breaks things for another".

This thread answers a query I had as to why I get an email from myself to myself instead from e.g. “Cumulus”, like I get from my NVR. But I can see now where there are multiple recipients why it makes sense.
