Spike Removal Question

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

Spike Removal Question

Post by Mapantz »

This question relates to a bug in CMX where the wind speed spikes when CMX is restarted.

I had to restart CMX because I needed to edit a data file. I remembered about the wind speed spiking after a restart.. I thought I could try adding a value in to the spike removal item in the calibration settings. I knew the spike would go up by at least 5mph, so I changed the value to 3. I saved it, closed CMX and did my thing, then opened it back up, but still got the large wind speed spike.

I've never used a spike removal before, but I assume I was doing it correctly? If so, why did it still get logged as my daily high wind speed?

I think the problem would be that spike removal works by comparing two consecutive readings and if the second reading exceeds the spike setting it would remove it. But in your case the first reading was the spike and the second normal so no spike is removed.

I guess so!

The annoying thing is, I can't edit any of the files to fix it, because as soon as start CMX back up, it spikes again lol

Can you not edit the data file via the interface? Or is it a custom file.
