Rain constantly missing (ignoring rollover)

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

Rain constantly missing (ignoring rollover)

Post by dany.spy »

Hello everyone,

I'm running CumulusMX 3.25.1 b3244 on a Raspberry PI4 since a couple week, with a station configured as "Ecowitt" (Froggit WH3000SE PRO).
The communication between the station and the software is ok, but I keep having trouble with the rain.
It already happened twice: when it's raining from evening to the next morning, from midnight I see the total rain reset to 0. Even if there's a two-days pause and then it rains again, counter remains 0.
And it keeps going that way until I close the SW, delete the "data" folder content and restart the software.
That is frustrating.
Checking out the diag file, I keep seeing:

DoRain: A reading arrived at the start of a new day, but before we have done the roll-over. Ignoring it

What am I missing?

did you check that the time zone setting on the froggit is the same as on the Raspi?

We could do with a DIAG file that covers the midnight rollover time.

I spotted this in the supplied DIAG file:

Code: Select all

2023-05-27 12:00:00.410 !!! Unhandled Exception !!!
2023-05-27 12:00:00.411 Current CPU temp = 49,7°C
System.OutOfMemoryException: Insufficient memory to continue the execution of the program.
So it looks as if you are having system resource shortages at times. Do you have anything else running on the same host as CumulusMX?

Increase the size of the swapfile to double the amount of physical ram and try again.

Sorry guys, I didn't notice the system exception. :groan:
As suggested, I increased the swap file... and I'll let you know how it will go. Of course now there are sunny days, so it might take a while! :D
