Rainfall not updated on b3244

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

Rainfall not updated on b3244

Post by kletteroli »

I receive correct rain fall data on WSView from my FineOffset WH2650. This data is also correctly forwarded to Ecowitt.
I run the latest release of CumulusMX b3244 since it got published (as a service). The last days were rainy days and all data was correctly fetched from Ecowitt Local API until yesterday.
Today is different: Rainfall remains at 0 although WSView already registered 5 mm. All other sensor data is correctly updated to the CumulusMX.
I now use EDIT-->Todays Rain to manually copy the rain.

The only thing that I can imagine that maybe could have corrupted some file: Last night I had to hard restart the Raspi several times because it was not reachable anymore. Any idea on which end I could have a look?
Thank you

First zip up the MXdiags folder and attach it here so we can take a look.

It was a rain event on the 27th starting at 20:45h and ending towards 23:10h that was not registered automatically. Please find below the MXdiag folder + the dayfile. (looking at the 20230528-205031.txt I did notice that several errors in the dayfile are reported, but I don´t know how to fix this, so I attach the dayfile as well)
-additionally in the meantime I have put the Fine Offset to the correct time zone...
Thank you for your help!

The first 45 lines of your dayfile.txt - up to 16/06/2022 are using a different format from the rest of the file.
They have dot decimals, and comma separators, the rest of the file has comma decimals and semicolon separators. You need to fix or delete those lines, then MX will start working better.

The rainfall is complicated because every time you start MX you edit the rainfall and that changes the starting point for the counter.

For the period 24,25,26 where MX was just left to run it recorded the rainfall correctly.

But it seems since then each time you get a period of rain you edit the rainfall, why is this?

Thank you very much for your help! I highly appreciated it.
I fixed the format of the first 45 lines.
The MXdiags now looks a lot cleaner after restarting the service.
On the 27 I did the rainfall edit because of no recording (my initial post) and the 28 I edited the rainfall because of a missmatch between FineOffset and CumulusMX (time zone was 2 hours different)
