Looks to me like you have not completely copied all the components of the build as MySqlConnector.dll is part of the zip file of the release.

It also looks like this is not the latest build as the version MySqlConnector.dll contained in 3.25.1 (build 3224) is version 2.2.5.0.

Yes I know but I thought I would reinforce it as the reply didn't seem to acknowledge your advice.

This is a new installation on a new computer. Yes, it is an unzip of the downloaded b.3244 distro. I do follow the instructions as suggested in the post to which you refer.

Have checked and the version of MySqlConnector.dll in the distro and so that installed by me is 2.2.5.0.

Thanks each for your help. I am coming to think that what happened was an unexplainable abberation which happens from time to time with computing. It hasn't happened since in a number of restarts.
