NOAA Reports

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

NOAA Reports

Post by Nottub »

I wondered of there is a limit to how may NOAA Reports CMX can process/ display.

I have records back to 2000, CMX Reports Folder has NOAAYR2000, NOAAYR2001, NOAAYR2002, (No NOAAYR2003?), but then has every other month to date. On the NOAA report page (local) however the last year I can select is 2004.
Image

With regards the Monthly records I do have every month (except 2003). Which I'm sure I was manually creating using the 'Load report' and then 'Re-Generate Report'. However I can't load 2003 to do this, it just doesn't show in the drop down list.

My intention was to generate the missing reports in CMX, then upload to my web page.

Now since there are 20 years of year reports selectable, I was wondering is this is a maximum limit that I can change, or just a coincidence?

Thanks as always
Martyn

I don't quite get your point: if I display on your website I get years and months from 2000 (September) onwards.
So are you talking about the display in the interface or in the website (which looks good to me).
If the website is the problem, try ctrl-F5?

[EDIT:]Although I do agree that the months of 2003 have a hickup and an error in display.

That's part of the problem, 2003.

I can't generate the missing NOAA files in CumulusMX, to allow me to add them to the website.

The CMX interface only shows 2004 onwards.

Thanks

Ah, OK. The interface is Marks problem ;)
But I would advise to (with DEBUG and maybe DATA logging on) try to generate one month of 2003 and when done (and failed) get the MXdiags log and post it here so we can see all info available and possibly what CMX complaints are.

Thanks Hans, Debug and Data logging on.

However I can't try to create any 2003 NOAA files to generate an error, as I can't access 2003 from the menu.

Thanks for being so quick to respond. Much appreciated.

Ah... Well, then you can switch DEBUG and DATA logging off again and wait for some interface competence to comment :lol:

The interface uses the records began date to determine the first year to put in the drop downs

I’ll check that Mark but I’m sure that I initially used 2000 as the start date.

I’ll check when I get home.

Kind regards

Just looked in the Cumulus.ini file and

‘StartDateIso=2000-09-01’.

So presumably I should see NOAA Yearly Report option for 2003, 2002 and 2001 in CumulusMX dashboard. Which I don’t.

In the NOAA Monthly Report since I can’t see these years I can’t ‘Load Report’ because I can’t select them, nor can I (Re)Generate Report for the same reason.

Could I just create and upload to the server the appropriate NOAA reports from Weatherlink?

Ah! There is a sanity check in the JS code for the page. If the year is before 2004 (when Cumulus was released) it sets it to 2004.

If you edit noaayearreort.html you will see the lines...

Code: Select all

                if (start < 2004 || start > yr) {
                    start = 2004;
                }
Just delete those and you should be OK. Same in noaamonthreport.html

And yes, you could just copy the report files from WeatherLink - though you may end up with ANSI/UTF-8 codding "glitches" - degree symbols corrupted.

Inside CMX I can only find noaareport.htm file in the webfiles folder.

Within that I can't see any reference to the lines suggested.

Perhaps I'm missing something. Am I looking in the right place?

Just one last question: :?:

1) what source data is used to generate the NOAA files if i (Re-create) them, is it from the 'dayfile.txt' data, or the specific 'mmmyylog.txt' file for that specific month?

2) which bit of code within CMX is used when re-creating a NOAA file?

Thanks
